Ist Race of the Season and would you believe it,Oscar crashes out during the Warm Up Lap.

On the Podium,…
1st - George Russell(UK)
2nd - Kimi Antonelli(Italy)
3rd - Charles le Clerc(Monte Carlo).
Will keep an eye our for 19 year old Antonelli in his 2nd Season and Argentine Franco Colapinto, who may have finished 14th,but did set a Fastest Lap Time during the Race.
These cars are shit. Piastri was having trouble just before the crash. Verstappens’ crash in Q1 was frightening reminded me of Ayrton Senna. Max was a passenger. Hand brake locked on and even a driver of his ability had no say on where he ended up.
Remember watching practise and commentators were saying too many drivers were losing it (on turn 3 I think) where Piastri crashed out, and saying it can’t be all driver error. Something to do with these new hybrid 50/50 electric/combustion power units. Very torquey apparently.
And apparently the fastest Q1 qualifying time was about 4/10ths slower than the time last year.
First race in the new design, theres always going to be early season issues. Teams will improve quickly.
F1 cars don’t have a handbrake DD, Verstappens rear diff locked under braking and had an issue with his ERS
From a racing perspective looked like the smaller design allowed cars to follow closer and there was more overtaking. Better to watch than previous seasons
I’ve heard commentators use the term hand brake several times. My apologies watching the replay of Max Verstappen’s crash in Q1 Martin Brundle said as he’s hit the brakes the kinetic motor is like pulling the handbrake on , he’s hit the brakes and it’s locked up the rear axle.
Yeah looked like he’d ripped a handbrake on the way he went 90 degrees but was a diff lock up.
Piastri similar but unexpected 100kw of power causing his issue.
Yep very tricky experts saying they basically have to unlearn the way they used to drive and just about do the opposite. Piastri was told in Q1 you’ve got your battery fully charged too early going into turn 4, need to use a bit up before you get there .
Mercedes and Ferrari seem to be on top of things. How did Hadjar crash out car failure?Didn’t watch the race. Trying to catch up. Max unbelievable starts at the back of the grid and finishes 6th.
Hadjar had an engine failure about 10 laps in. Was 5th and tracking well against the Mercs and Ferraris ahead.
2 x Non starters, 3 x DNFs and Stroll may as well of not raced was 15 laps down
Hamilton might not sook so much this year after that promising performance. George and Kimi are in rocket ships, Max is still the best driver on the grid hands down! If he was in the Merc on the weekend he’d have nearly lapped everyone. He is the Ayrton Senna of the 2020’s. A rare gift to racing. McLaren’s are going to need to find something and so is RB if they wish to be in the hunt as the gap from the Merc’s and red rarri’s to those 2 is like a ravine at the moment and the rest are at the bottom of Niagra Falls.
I hope many sort their cars out quickly so we get racing like we did the first 10 laps. Haven’t seen racing like that in F1 for probably 20 years.
Forgot to add … same old Ferrari … no fucking idea how to run a race. They screwed themselves a couple years ago with the race engineer an absolute moron and holy shit if they didn’t do it again on the weekend.
Yeah not pitting on VSC super costly for Ferrari
I cannot fathom what they were thinking when they were swapping spit with the Merc’s who had crazy speed to that point. You had to go with them and then try hold them off … as soon as they split them and decided to try and out pit them they lost the race.
Heard Hamilton say on radio when Mercedes pitted first “you should have brought at least one of us in”. Good to see Ford back in the F1 business.
ebbs and flows with the manufacturers … watched Ford pull the pin in a number of years ago in Australia and it decimated the supercars series. They came back after a small hiatus and all was good again.
GM have now done the same and decimated the series again. I’m following it hoping Feeney wins but these manufacturers kill our series.
Read an article today respected commentator and former driver Martin Brundle believes these cars are dangerous. Cars having to slow down on straights to harvest battery energy. It goes completely opposite to the nature of a race car driver to go absolutely flat out and if it’s a drag race it comes down to who is prepared to brake the latest and try and get the car around the corner.
Geez McLaren!
Sort your Sh*t out will yers?

Agree RnB. I read today that some of the metrics are showing the F2 cars are actually faster in some parts of the track than the F1.
I guess the next progression will be to get pimply 16 year old kids who have grown up on gaming consoles to drive the cars.
I can see Max pulling the pin after this year if things don’t change as he’s an old fashioned racer and isn’t happy from all reports.
BC I didn’t even bother reading the article today but they are saying F1 fans are turning on Max. I guess they are saying he is whinging about the new regs because he can’t win.
Fact is Max is the best driver by a mile in F1. Must admit I couldn’t stand him in his first couple of years when he started upstaging our Duncraig Dasher who had just upstaged 4 time champion Sebastian Vettel the year before and Max seemed to be Redbull boss Helmut Marco’s love child.
And no way he should have won his first championship, Hamilton was robbed by an Australian race director can’t recall his name.
But since then he has proven to be the best driver in Formula 1 by a country mile and has mellowed out.
I agree they need to sort this shit out or he’s out of here though money talks but he’s already got more than a bull can shit. Reigning world champion manufacturer McLaren is floundering as is Norris and Piastri.
Piastri is fastest in practice 2 in Japan
Must have hollared a Marshall. Lol
