2025 Recruiting

Zane Trew returns home to Swans as the first confirmed signing for 2025.

My understanding is that club is looking at a key position player who was recently delisted from an AFL club over east.

Ethan Hughes has been added to Swans player list.

Forget Ethan Hughes - he’s gone to South Fremantle.

Most Fremantle players would live close to Fremantle/Cockburn/Coogee MOM especially long term players that have been on the list for a while. That would be a big factor I imagine. Advantage SF who would be the most attractive option.

Ethan may be the marquee / coach appointment in place of Gallucci , who took over from Suban - most players consider future coaching roles after the VFL throw them in the bin and this one will be no different

Hughes shopped himself around for the best deal. The travel excuse doesnt cut it when Notte travels 2 hours for games.

Conner Blackley looking good for you guys this year - he just won the 2k time trial after a year off footy. He might be able to to replace your Sandover Medalist with this sort of fitness. Doc will enjoy having a kick with his brother.

confirmed Tom Edwards training with Essendon - possible preseason signing

Good luck to Tom, he deserves an opportunity. Hopefully it is a genuine opportunity and he doesn’t spend the year languishing in the VFL.
Gives Swans very little time to find a replacement

Heard Phil Smart on 91.3 this morning- he made it sound like no clearance would be going through for Rokahr. Expectations is he returns and plays. Connor Blakey training but not signed

From what I have read online a couple of days ago Rokahr wont be returning. He has a good paying job and is willing to stand out of football for the year if he doesn’t get a clearance. Norwood F/C have offered him a coaching position if that is the case. The article said that it could end up going to the SANFL and WAFL commissions to resolve.

As we’ve come to know from seasons gone the information, or lack there of, during pre season is a slap in the face to members and supporters.

Nothing anywhere regarding Yukich and Blakely returning or any other recruits, if we have any and no mention if our games record holder is continuing - unless I’ve missed all this of course. The player list isn’t updated and rarely is so how would you know?!!!

Sydney Stack is on the list, has anyone seen him on the track?

Whist the club appears certain to be without Rokhar despite a hard line stance it wouldn’t surprise if there were no other significant signings apart from what we know. Trew and Blakely cover Rokhar while Yukich covers the loss of Germs, although that still seems to be a noticeable weakness. The coaching staff would be hopeful that Erceg, Ireland and Bright can play a lot more footy and the kids in Kelly, Taylor, Cartwright and the Smiths can push to become regulars.

Top 3 should be the target and anything less would be underachieving at this stage.

4 goals for Tom Edwards in a half for Essendon v Western Bulldogs in Practice Game today - has to get picked.

Probably not the news the SD boys would want to hear KC…but we’ll done to the young fella…reckon will be more than handy for the Bombers if he gets the nod…be another great story like the Martin lad from Subi…killing it now for Essendon.

Has been signed by Essendon. Good for him not so good for Swans.

Bit of a blow for Swans- 30 odd goals is hard to find this late in the piece. Swans have had a decent history with producing mature agers- Broad comes to mind in recent times

I see Grainger-Barras has been snubbed by Carlton who he was training with. Would be handy for you guys if you can lure him home.

Chase Loftus has arrived at Swans. Last played in the NT originally from the Geelong Falcons and played for Torquay in the Bellarine Football League.

Premiership player for Torquay for the last two seasons, best on ground in the Grand Final last year and fairest and best at Torquay in 2023. Not sure how strong the Bellarine Football league is but he was certainly a standout in that competition. 22 years old. He did play the pre season game against the Eagles on Saturday. Did anyone on here see that game and what were the initial impressions of Chase?

Didn’t really impose himself, while Kane (no 14) another young man played better. Alforque had a serious hit out in reserves and league last week, and the league (but mostly seconds and mature colts) last Saturday. He did well in both matches, and might be a roughy for selection next Saturday.
