Seems weird being called the 2025 AFL Draft when it applies to the 2026 season but anyway that’s how the AFL roll with it.
Eagles have the most powerful draft hand with picks 1, 2 and 13. Fremantle hardly rate a mention.
From a Perth point of view I’m keenly interested in Koby Evans. Seems to be a lot of talk about him despite his 2025 season being severely impacted by injuries. Eagles NGA so looks like they will take him but probably second round.
Starts 3.50pm tomorrow Wednesday the 19th.
Will the Eagles take Will Duursma at No 1 and ruck forward Cooper Duff-Tytler at 2?
Looks almost certain that they will go that way R and B. They will bid for anyone in the top 10, including father/son selections of other clubs but their bids will be matched. Very important for the Eagles to get this draft right because the Tasmanian team will dilute the talent available in future drafts
Eagles are playing this smart using their No 2 pick to make bids on academy and father son picks which GC and Carlton have matched which will significantly improve the Eagles draft hand.
As predicted Duursma taken at 1.
Just taken ruck forward Cooper Duff-Tytler at pick 4.
Fremantle’s first pick 20 went out to pick 25. Picked Adam Sweid 176cm mid/small forward from the Calder Cannons. Compared to Dion Prestia. That’s the first round over.
I think only one WA player taken in the first round, Jacob Farrow from WP by Essendon at pick 10.
