2023 AFL draft and trade period.

Surely the Eagles take Harley Reid? They seriously lack the presence of an absolute gun to build a side around and for mine they start with him. They’ve got first pick in every round plus pick 55 in the third round.

Fremantle picked up Matthew Johnson with first pick in the second round last year and he looks like being a gun.

Eagles supporters what do you want?

Gee Lachie Schultz dropped a grenade on the Dockers today by requesting a trade to Collingwood. WTF is going on?
Freo should avoid drafting anyone called Lachie in future, they don’t have a good record hanging on to them

Straight swap for Tyler Brockman from Hawthorn must be on the cards. Hawks tried to poach him a couple of years ago.

how in hell is that competition even remotely an even playing field ???
still to this very day the top sides / premiers , mostly Victorian , are able to openly poach players from the bottom dwellers despite contracts being in place and a supposed fairness system being enforced
mind you there is a now quite obvious issue at Cockburn - there’s simply been too many walking out over the past 15 months

unfortunately the ACB won’t act by preparing wildly bouncing green tops in reparte’ for when India tour here mate so they just do what they like when tours are on over there
Correct me if wrong but I recall the ICC banned Barbados from doing their old methods
for mine - pitches need to have strict conditions placed upon them while preserving their natural character
pouring fuels on pitches is just rubbish , it is a form of cheating
and so is deliberately scarifying or scratching away the surface on game day

DD Reid does not want to be anywhere except staying over east and has said so publicaly, so why would you want him over here knowing that once his mandatory contract period is over, he’s off back home. Use that #1 pick to get 2 first round picks of players who want to commit.

his parents don’t want him anywhere near WCE , apparently that’s how that one got out so quick

Has anyone seen Curtin play? Is he just a biog kid who plays well against his own age and struggles against men or is he someone you could build a club around. WCE seem to have a fix on recruiting local players.

Hell even if you pick Read and he walks, it gets you pick 1 the following year, and of the Eagles have that sides will have to give off pick 2.

He might not want to go to WCE, but surely North Melbourne is no better, it will be one or the other

seen him twice - has a bigger frame than most kids his age
word is WCE want Curtin and the Subiaco boy
they are well aware the Victorian will go home quickly just like that SA kid did - it’s a Carlton kid

Chats say he could slip to GWS at 7 or Geelong at 8…

It’s quite a smart decision Southerner. The pies are likely to lose Taylor Adams who is a midfielder they are playing across half forward. So instead of sitting on their asses, losing him and getting a draft pick, they go and find someone that can play half forward and run through the guts and make him an offer he can’t refuse. At the end of the day, they swap out a 30-year-old for a 25-year-old that plays the same role.

My mail was a number of clubs were going to chat to Shults next year knowing he could walk as a free agent due to Freo delisting him and putting him on a rookie list back in 2020, pies have just jumped in early.

Freo should ask for the pies first pick as well as Ed Allen…However, whatever they do they need to make it good because he will walk for nothing next year that is a guarantee.

yeah contracts are nothing now - just something for the short term of 1 season , if that
he’s been shopped by his manager for a better piece of paper and someone gave it

the other one is that WC are going to walk an ex-Subiaco kid to the pre-season draft

Clubs and their supporters are just pawns in the game of player managers, players and the AFL Players Association. I ended my Fremantle membership at the end of the 2016 season and the only Fremantle game I’ve been to since was because I bought a ticket to the WA v SA interstate match that was a curtain raiser to the Fremantle v Richmond game a few years back.

I’ve lost the interest I once had.

It just seems a little strange that the 2023 premiers are allowed to poach a guy from the AFL’s 14th placed team in a league that champions its “equalisation” policy.
Yes I get that Schultz wants to go back to Melbourne for family reasons but there are 9 teams in that city and surely he could go to a club like North Melbourne who could use some good players to get back up the ladder? This would be more consistent with the policy rather than making the strong teams stronger.

it’s a true indication of what that league really is behind the shiny facade - the VFL
and the VFL will look after the Victorian teams first and foremost before anything else
Sydney & Queensland get next dibs
I find it pretty distasteful that something as filthy dirty as North Melbourne get continual hand outs just to operate each season
and just look at the arsenal of draft picks this filth has been allowed to horde - what an absolute farce !
They are worse than what the old Fitzroy was except this so called commission keeps bailing them out

and further proof , as if it was ever needed , that the VFL only looks after Victorian interests
apparently that shithole North Melbourne were awarded 2 end of first round draft picks for the 2024 draft next year (dependant on performances in the 2024 season and to be reviewed before being finally approved )
well the slimy pieces of Victorian dogshit have already traded them out
and it’s been approved by that fuckwit Dillon
this whole charade has gone back to the 1970’s & 1980’s where the VFL scumbags just do what they want and get away with it without a whisper from officials
what a fucking sick twisted joke of a competition

Harley has warmed to the idea of heading West already asking for the famous No 9. It’s more of a typically biased Melbourne media building it up that he doesn’t want to come here. Being a Fremantle supporter I’d just like to see a gun young player playing his footy in the West. We see enough of our young stars living and playing over east so why just focus on local young talent. Just take the best player available in the draft that suits your needs that’s what they always tell us.

If he gets home sick so be it will probably end getting more for him in a trade when he’s 22 or 23 than trading the pick now which becomes a lottery on how you use it. Look at the Judd trade, West Coast ended up the winners there by a fair margin I reckon and saw the best version of Judd before he left.

DD you know damn well if Trevor was going to draft this superwunderkind kid - he would have already come out and said so
that is Trevor’s memo
everyone knows he’s given North Melbourne the list of what he wants and it’s been seen by all this trading activity over east
Trevor knows that wunderkind kid is going back home regardless
and so does most other people

I think they have made new draft rules regarding contracts for new draftees. Minimum 3 years now. Their focus, some might say obsession with WA kids, hasn’t paid off. The Eagles sometimes outsmart themselves trying to be clever. KISS is usually the best method.

I see Fremantle are making a play for Tyler Brockman using Liam Henry as the trade.
