West Perth v Perth

Almost an unchanged squad for Saturday. Keiran Hug replaces Ash Smith seems to be the only change. According to the Redlegs show on 91.3, Simon Tunbridge may be ready to return from injury but there was a suggestion he may play Ressies.
Nick Kane listed to play Ressies.

This game on paper and ladder position should be a cracker. WP side looks strong but our side looks as balanced as I have ever seen it with a good spread of talls and smalls. I hope Daniel Murray is happy to bide his time because the club is in a very strong position having Murray, Eyres and Lyendekkers on board but obviously all 3 can’t play at the same time with McInness in the side. Murray played a key role in a win a while back kicking 4 goals so keeping all 3 becomes important next year when the G7 clubs lose their AFL listed players.

Yeah agree Johnno our tall stocks are as healthy as I have seen them. Unfortunately as you have noted it comes with another problem of making sure they all stay interested if they dont a guernsey each week.

Our backs this year have been a real standout for me and I am confident they can continue the same for this game. WP havent had any real standout goal kickers apart from Johnson, Mellington and co so we will need to restrict their centre line and flanks running forward and kicking goals which they do so well.

Each week we say this is the real test and this week is no different. How good would it be to a full round with only 2 losses! I am excited about that prospect alone

As hard as it is every one needs to get to this game if you can. We had a big turnout for the Subi game and the boys need us again. Its no coincidence the contribution the supporters made in the last quarter last week when we blew them away!

Smoky looks like Johnson is in? First game in the firsts!

Surprised Mather isn’t at least in the squad.
Murray missed last week apparently with a hamstring. He seems to have made a quick recovery. Named in the reserves though.

Dont be surprised if Mzungo is a late in, lucky to be the sub last week and was ordinary when he came on.

Lucifer, Johnston is also named in the reserves so I expect he may miss, but he seems to be finding fitness and form.

Yep would be a good in!
Has been up and about for a long time now and a form slump is probably not surprising.

Perth boys I know you blokes are up & about this year but the anticipation about former Swans & Peel player David Johnston making his Demons debut has been a little over the top!
Johnno is an honest defender along the same lines of a Harry Mumford rather than a Brian Cook, Allan Montgomery or even a Mark Washfold!!

Your probably right BH…I am not really sure of my own anticipation for Johnston getting a game…probably more for the fact that he was named as an in but as smokey said probably wont play. I cant even say I have seen enough of him play to have an opinion of how he has been playing whilst at Perth! So he wasnt in your tiop 6 defenders at swans I take it?

Johnno left after 2011 when he played 3 league games and showed some promise to go to Peel in 2012..I was surprised he left as he had been developing nicely through the colts and reserves at Swans ..

Harry Mumford now that a name I haven’t heard in a long time, a long time.

Cess, Johnston played ressies last week and played very well.

Working his way back to fitness and form.

Lucifer, Johnston hasn’t played league for us yet and has been hampered by minor injuries including a broken wrist.

He is finding some fitness and hopefully some form in the ressies and it might be too long before he is pushing for a league spot.

Was recruited for his height (tall defender), looked good in ressies last week. I am sure Trevor Williams had a hand in the recruiting so he must see something in him. Still just a young pup.

Is it just me or does a Mr S Parry umpire all of the Perth games. Is there a fixture for umpires or are they allocated teams??

We have had Mr parry more times this year than is necessary.

The guy’s a goose.

He was good for us at Basso.

Chrimes, Tunbridge and Hunt all playing reserves. The colts won by 54 points. League at this stage is still a squad of 23 with Hug named as the inclusion and Johnson as the standby it seems.

:frowning:

Any news on today’s results. Been hard at it working fingers crossed .
