WAFL Woeful Crowds

Crowds to recover if Perth ,WP,SD stay strong. WCEP need to get behind there new club and this might put a few extra bums on seats.
Big Derby Thursday big crowd expected

I am with you Falcon..The GF this year will be the last of the true WAFL GF’S
I am angry and as much as I try I am losing interest fast. End of a Era and the end of a great comp as we know it. I have no doubt this will be my last year.
OK that will bring out screams of horror but if its to hot in the kitchen time to get out. Enjoy 2013. As in 2014 the crowds will be down and the WAFL believers will be leaving in droves.
Listening to David Crute CEO WPFC today (under WAFL thread) I liked his comments on development at the Club but when He said we would develop these young guys to give them a chance in the AFL!.. Yeh ok we will develop the players they will be drafted etc and then have to put on a EP jumper if they are picked up by Dockers or Eagles.

Just the thought of the losses to WAFL clubs of their AFL players at the end of this year to Peel and EP is beyond comprehension. I have heard that a few of the players who came through their clubs and even players who havent are not all happy about the thought

OZFOOTY will suffer as well. At the moment there are 466 members on this site which considering the amount of “current” WAFL supporters is not many. Not all the posters are WAFL either as the Country and Amateurs make up a large number.
Maybe WAFL supporters have lost interest already looking at those figures.
I along with a few others try to promote the game but looking at the responses something is in he Wind..and it is not good…

Just my opinion and could be wrong but time will tell

Yeah agree mate

Im a bit worried about ozfooty as well, it is now the only WAFL forum in the entire world and has maybe 30 regular posters on WAFL! that is not many at all.

i have also tried really hard to promote wafl, I have talked guests into coming along to games, only to find them reluctant to return due to poor standard of venues, lack of atmosphere, lack of big name players etc etc..most if not all are AFL obsessed now and you just cant get them back.

Th elast two GF’s have had terrible turnouts - expect another this year and next year ???

Fair dinkum S&S you have truly lost the plot now with that suggestion!!

Thats Bazza’s post Mate not S and S. Agree Beasley when I read it I wrote it off as a piece of fiction. Especially the alignments. Wont happen (I hope)

Only way forward long term buddy…gotta think of some plans and ideas.

As I say if you think the WAFL can drift along over the next decade or two in its current form you really are talking fiction.

I see the Perth v Claremont game could not even crack 2000, in what was really Perfect weather for footy, that was the biggest game Perth have had in years, regardless of playing Claremont it should of attracted close to 3000 on a day like that.

Looks like the rest were pretty poorly attended as well given the conditions, 1500 - 2000. South have peel next given the arse has fallen out the season if we get 500 there it will be a good result!

Agree Bazza,The state game next week a waste of space.
The week after WP have a bye so I will be going to the CLA v EF game a grandfinal replay but have a feeling no one will turn up at the Match of the day. It us a Cla so good parking and centra. Will most probably be ABC match of the day on TV. I dont know but if that happens the “crowd” will be less again..
It is an old arguement that we have talked about a great length on FootyGoss over the years but nothing has changed. I put the blame totally on the Heads of the WAFC/WAFL for lack of promotion and they their dont give a Fark attitude.

BC can I sell your home to fund improvements to Basso? The reason why I am asking is you apparently don’t think the WACA should have a say in the sale of what they own.

Johnno Hansen rarely played for us during most of his time at the Eagles. We had him in his formative years, albeit limited due to his injuries and toward the end of his career. What we did gain from the distribution of AFL aligned players to all clubs in the WAFL was the benefit of his experience after he was no longer in the AFL. With a host situation this would only apply to PEel and the club formerly known as East Perth.

Whilst there have been cases where the WAFL clubs have been impacted, and in some cases seriously, the alternative of having only two WAFL clubs with AFL aligned players will do irreparable more danger than the previous set-up.

With respect to Freezin’s comment a case in point would be Naitanui not playing for Swans and playing for the club formerly known as East Perth. If you want to disenfranchise WAFL supporters that would be a very good start.
