Up coming Ashes

All over in less than two days…WTF…never seen that before.

Must have lost a fortune on ticket and beer sales, a heap of poms walking around CBD like lost souls today trying to kill time.

Interesting to note everyone knows about Archer and Woods lack of match resilience …and did it show in the 2nd innings…both were farked in terms of speed and endurance…and folk, hilariously blame it on fatigue, and the little respite they both got between innings…err… welcome to Bazball, and the demands of test cricket

Well said Freez. The Poms bowled less than 50 overs in the first Aussie innings.
Have to ask, how ill they go if at the Gabba, the Aussies bat first, for a day and a half, with the temp in the high 30s and 80/90% humidity!!

Mate don’t think Aust could bat a day n half mate…but if they did… .Wood and Archer would never play again…they would be in wheelchairs, sucking on 15 litres of O2 …and still their O2 sats would only be, in the late 80’s at best…much like their bowling was in the 2nd innings

This from part of a Ben Stokes interview after hearing Michael Vaughan saying "He is not too old school.
Taken from the yahhoo site.
“If the results don’t go the way in our favour, that’s not going to differ from that (sic) because, hand on heart, we know that we put every little bit or ounce of ourselves into our training, and we know and believe that this is the best way for this team to operate.”
Really Benny boy!! I mean really!!! Your bowlers were like crippled old men on day two.And that may be being unkind to the old men, of which I am one,
Seriously.

Cummins is apparently on track to return in Brisbane. If he is available then there will be a decision to make as to whether they go with the extra pace bowler (Doggett) or stick with Lyon. Also does Head now open for the rest of the series or will they go back to Ussie? If they go with Head then it opens up the possibility of Green and Webster playing in the same team and increasing the bowling options.

God I hope we don’t open up with Travis Head
we need him at 5 given how poor our middle order is
he won last year’s series against India there
and I mean Renshaw is just smashing that door down now it’s just a joke if he doesn’t get picked now really
Green isn’t anywhere reliable enough to hold our middle order up
then do we need spin at Brisbane ???

Cam being “Managed”even now?

Australia 2nd Test

J.Weatherald
M.Renshaw
M.Labuschagne
S.Smith
T.Head
C.Green(Batting only)
B.Webster
A.Carey
M.Starc
S.Boland
B.Doggett

12th Man
N.Lyon

If it was a Day Test,Lyon was playing.
Khawaja Out and Resting for Melbourne/Sydney or preparing for Retirement in open top car.

Cummins - not convinced he’s ready to come back yet.

Hazelwood - some way off, methinks.Should also consider Retirement with his poor bod.

If Uzzie is fit he will play and open the batting. They will need 4 recognised bowlers at the Gabba, Webster is an all rounder. So if Cummins is not fit that will be Lyon or Neser. At this stage I can’t see Green and Webster playing in the same XI

If they pick Khawaja Australia are already playing 1 man short and taking in to consideration were knocked over for a paltry 132 in their first dig and this Test being a pink ball day/night game!
The bloke is cooked and needs to be moved on NOW!

Agree,but you know Cricket Australia.

They’ll get him to limp on to Sydney, the best They can!

Thought I heard Uzzie was keen to go on to Centenary and a Half Test in March 2027.

In a Parade of PAST PLAYERS,if ya don’t mind Mr Khawaja?

If he’s fit,…..good luck with that.

Neser preferable to Lyon with the Pink Ball.

Lyon back for the Tweaker pitches.

@oledemonbod101 I agree with your squad but 1 change - Inglis was the reserve batter in Perth and hit 100 against the lions, so I reckon they will punt with him opening.
I do think Cummings will play if fit he probably won’t get back-to-back matches in and everyone wants to play boxing day so I reckon Captain Pat will play and the Dogget will be 12th man. That will also help Boland - his average bowling first change is around 12 compared to opening the bowling where its around 30

Yeah,Inglis deserves the chance to play Test Cricket and on a regular basis.

I suspect CA will do everything they can to get Khawaja over the line though, but they would need to Tell him to tone down his keen Golfing pursuits, until after he Retires from International Cricket!

@oledemonbod101 I am not sure CA would have much to do with selection. But then again I have not had much care for them for a long time.
Their handling of the South African farce would be enough to turn many off.
Not sure how the selectors will feel. I think he let the team down badly.

Interesting to read Renshaw ave 24 in 2023/24, and 29 in 2024/25 Shield seasons… filling his boots so far this year…late bloomer perhaps…or like similar types in Bancroft and Harris, who have had up n down levels of consistency, resulting in career averages in the 30’s

I seem to remember reading that after being dumped from the test team he had a lot of health problems.
Maybe he has become happy with what he has now and is more relaxed about his cricket.

Uzzie wants to do 18 holes to test his match fitness.

I don’t suppose playing a shield match would be a possibility? Something he withdrew from before the first test.
