The top 5 is splitting from the Pack

They should drop back after next week assuming they lose to SF. That would see, after 10 games, C on 30 points, EP and P 28, with Peel on 4, 18. But I agree they could be dangerous. In recent weeks the Dockers and Peel have seen Darcy, Fyfe, O’Driscoll and Narkle return. Walters is due back soon and with Young, O’Meara, Walker, Simpson, Sturt and Pearce potentially coming back, they could load up in the back half of the year. It would indeed be a travesty if they made it, but making up 3 games in the last 8 is a big ask.

We are at the exact half way point of the season.

You can put a line through WP Swans Subi WCE, they are done, Peel are the only outsiders with some hope, an upset down at there this weekend and anything could happen, I hope they stay out.

The most exciting thing so far has been Perth hanging in there, although the crowds have not really responded.

Sadly, Wafl crowds across the board haven’t been anything to write home about for a number of years.

Souths have a chance to pretty much put Peel out of business today if they can beat them at Mandurah. If South win and the other games go as expected, there will be a 2 and a half game gap between 5th and 6th with 8 games to go. Not impossible to bridge but very difficult. Perth supporters will be starting to believe that they can play finals

the division was saved somewhat by Subiaco with their upset over East Perth
so there remains a slim flicker of change to be seen
the Royals are a good side so beware writing them off just yet

Definitely every box ticked on a Perth supporters wish list on our bye week. We would like to win at least 1 of the next 3 against SF, EF and EP.

PFC are now well placed to play finals.
Yes, really looking forward to the next 3 games.
I also believe we have room for improvement which may surprise a couple of teams.
Of the teams in the I believe EP are the favourites to run 5th.
They lost some significant talent from their GF side.
I’d like to think we will beat them for a 2nd time.
We were competitive against SF, and we seem to play well against EF at home.
At least 1 of them ideally 2.
My wildest hope all 3.
I think we have some surprises up our sleeve.
Here’s hoping.

Results this week seal the deal, all over for the rest they can plan for 2026, Perth will play finals, just a shuffle for one or two in the top five.

Agreed Bazza. Was very worried Perth would lose yesterday when they went two goals down in the last - Hopefully their supporters can relax now and get along to the remaining games without worrying so much.

I’m just taking it one week at a time.

No Peel in finals so 5 genuine WAFL teams will fight for the premiership

Realistically I think the DEES will be gaining Finals experience.
Hopefully will become real Premiership contenders in the near future.
But then again you never really know.
If you are there you are a chance on the day.

and so it was
even back in late May it was evident that the top 5
had started to see daylight between the bottom 5
only West Perth now look to have a slight mathematical chance
of reaching 5th spot on the ladder
and the Cardinals will have to beat East Perth this weekend
if they want to play into September

Not goner happen.

If East Perth have to play a home final - what the hell are they going to do with not only with their surface (that will scrape over the line as match ready) but their outer which is a disgrace and has been that way all year.

Yes Time, that Leederville is a real mess, in its current state ,just not ready for FINALS venue at all…

Still a few rounds to go but the structure of the top 5 is starting to take shape with the results yesterday. Souths will finish on top, giving them the week off and the home 2nd semi. I’m tipping a Claremont v East Perth qualifying final, and a Perth v East Fremantle elimination final. Hopefully this will be at Lathlain Park as the ground has never hosted a WAFL final.

Despite their loss yesterday East Fremantle have no reason to worry that they will be tipped out of the finals at the last minute. Even if Peel were to win all their remaining games the most they could get is 38. EF are on 32, so they need 2 more wins to make it mathematically impossible. The Sharks are playing West Coast and West Perth in their run home so they should win these but Claremont will probably snuff out Peels last hope next week. Of more concern to East Fremantle would be injuries to key players and lack of depth as demonstrated by the performance of their reserves team yesterday

Derby this weekend mikeh…should be interesting.
