The Captain

Well not much has been said about our new captain for 2013! Can I be the first in this thread as I know there will be many more to congratulate the man on a truly Stella start to the season from the on field elected leader!
Big shoes to fill from a often quiet mild mannered individual after the departure of youngy but his on field ability and performances have shone through in true captain style.
Bevo wecome to the Perth demons football club! May we also get 5 years service from you.

He has never kicked 6 goals in a game at any level before, fantastic way to lead fro the front

Bevo is a man of character.

The perfect choice to take us forward, his contribution and leadership on Saturday was outstanding.

Bravo Bevo.

100 games and 3 flags is what I would like.

He’s doing very well at the moment. I think I said during the preseason that he seemed to be finding a good balance between midfield time and then time spent at half forward or in the forward line area.

The article in The West yesterday said that he will be playing a variety of roles when needed which is great. At times last year he showed he could be used in various roles. He seems to be really benefiting from having spent 15 months here, getting used to his new surroundings, making new friends and spending time with teammates. He looks a lot more settled and it’s showing in the way he has played his football so far in 2013.

Damn missed yesterday’s West, will need to rustle one up.

This was the article allthough the one in The Game on Monday had quotes from Paul Bevan.

Here’s the other article.

Thanks Mr AFL.

They were great positive articles weren’t they.

There was some criticism of the omission of Murray on Saturday but I think it was terrific.

Murray responded in the way you would want him too and it was designed to send a message. I think that’s good for the future.

All part of the endeavour to change the culture at the Club which is being driven by Marty Atkins.

I can see some positive things happening at Lathlain and I look forward to it evolving.

Yes was annoying that Murray missed as his presence in the middle would have seen us win more clearances. But at the end of the day if they are to keep driving this ‘new culture’ you can’t have rules for some and rules for others. Hopefully he doesn’t miss training anymore as his performances so far in 2013 have been pretty pleasing.

Looks like our captain has nominated for the draft! I don’t think anyone seen that coming. Going by media reports today it looks like he actually has a real chance of getting picked up. Two clubs that have been mentioned are Dockers and Melbourne. Having played under both coaches at Sydney.

Although I wish him all the best a big part of me says that he is now an integral part of our club and our playing list and his departure would not be good going into the 2014 season!

Yes would be sad and a blow to see him go particularly after he has signed for another 2 years.

But good luck to him if he gets another chance.

Certainly don’t want Fremantle picking him up.
Playing against us 3 times next year.

Devastating news for PFC but have to wish him well if he is drafted.
IMO it would be more likely that he would be drafted by Melbourne. Can’t see how he would fit in at Freo. It would seem to me that he may have been head hunted by Paul Roos.
On the brighter side it would free up 12 points and open the way for a new captain perhaps Hodgey.

Free up 12 points for what??another 12 point player,we will struggle to get another player of Bevans experience and class and Hodge may be a captain in waiting but imo he’s not ready yet.

This will be a massive hurt for us if he gets drafted and one that would set us back…big time!!,he will not be easily replaced in class or leadership!

We,if we want to go places have to inject as many “high point” players as we can because we just dont have that key personel from within to do the job.
Losing Bevan and freeing up points is not what we want.
Good luck to him if he gets re-drafted but we will then have to re-use those points on a player hopefully of the same ilk, reputation, experience etc etc as Bevan.

30+, I did say “perhaps” Hodgey. He is surely the captain in waiting and in IMO he is the one to go with. Looking at the team list the only other contender, and I would not be unhappy with him as captain,is Chance Bateman.
But having said that,it may be time to look to the future.
We have all been screaming for quality recruits and if we are to lose Bevo his 12 points and salary will undoubtedly help.
