The big dance

I don’t think Suban’s 8 or so possessions and few off the ball late hits will impact the result much.

No changes in the named squad which is no surprise. Ryan Borchet in the ressies so you’d think we’ll go in with the same 22 as the second semi.

Interesting interchange for Subi. I wonder which of these guys will make the 22 given Hickmott, Bailey Matera and Golding are certainties? Maybe they’ll bring in Beverley to tag or Faraone as another small scoring option given it’s going to be wet.

INTERCHANGE
16 Jack BEVERLEY
56 Isaac CLINCH
34 Jordan FARAONE
53 Benjamin GOLDING
13 Liam HICKMOTT
33 Bailey MATERA
27 Lewis Putt
35 Drew ROHDE

Can’t see subi dropping Rhode. I’m expecting no change to settled line up. Been out for coffee in subi this morning and ran into a life member wearing his subi tie. Good omen?

I’m worried subi people are expecting this to just happen. Souths won’t give this up without fighting to the end.
I’m getting a 1985, 2017 vibe about this one.

This Subi playing group are too experienced and level headed to get too far ahead of them selves, they wont take a GF lightly especially after missing finals last year and Souths are a quality team with an excellent coach who will embrace the underdogs label. Most on here and in the media expect Subi to win due to our recent history but history means nothing on the day with 22 v 22 playing on the same piece of dirt in the same conditions. Re the conditions, it will be wet but the surface will be as good as we could possibly ask for in the conditions, but the footy will be on the ground a lot and I expect Souths may go with a shorter team to suit the conditions, so whoever wins the ground ball clearances wins the game imho. They say wet weather is a great leveller!!
Only have to look back to 2014 when an EP team brimming with AFL fulltime professionals and raging favourites caved in, in the wet to a determined Subi team that were massive underdogs.

I’m worried about south’s underrated inexperienced defence. Those young half backers are quick. Strom and Pearson in good good form. Four forward line has been hit and miss. 2 Materas could have a shocker. Martin could go missing in the heat. Golding could be overwhelmed. We’re vulnerable to not scoring much if our midfield get done.

I don’t disagree JL but think we have too many forward options to have them all shut down over the course of the game. Sokol and Mayo will likely get Strom and Pearson but then you get Martin, Braut and Brandon Matera on very inexperienced defenders with Maxy floating through as well. Plus if Wardman wanted to make it even tougher for Curley, just throw Delahunty up forward for a period and watch the South backs shit themselves. Our forward line in its totality is very hard to match up on.

Good luck to the ressies as well. They’ve had a couple of close ones with Perth this year so should be a great game.

Yes, go the reserves. They’ve done it the hard way. Seem to have a good team feeling.

We kicked 1.7 in the last to Perth’s 1.1. It looks like we had every chance but fluffed it a bit.

Well done to the Perth reserves, but stronger around the ball. Borchet a few games away from form. Matt Johnson was impressive. Copped a hard illegal hit in the last. Jack Beverly played well in the last. Brave effort by the subi boys. Great season.

good luck, Subi

It was a good game but the Demons just seemed to have the edge in wanting the game, nevertheless good effort by your boys

And hearing a damn good Grand Final coverage by the SportFM commentary crew. They have been doing a first class job all season.

Well done against a valiant opponent.

Fantastic effort by the boys after struggling in the first half. Greg Clark was superb, Harry Marsh not far behind, Gus Dewar very attacking and Jordy Lockyer rock solid. Chad Harris played a blinder as did Jack Mayo. An all round team effort against a Souths who were up against it with a couple of tough games over the last few weeks, injuries when they counted and a short turnaround. Not a dominant season by Subi but a bloody good result. Well done to all concerned. It was also good to see Jarrod Schofield and Horsley getting around the boys after the game on the field. Glory, glory…

Congratulations to our neighbours for breaking their 2 year premiership drought which i’m sure had been playing on their minds,so well done on getting that big ‘‘MONKEY’’ off your back.

Well done Subiaco. Far too good…again. Souths did have their chances in the first half but failed to put the results on the scoreboard. It was all one way traffic after half time. Cant see any signs that this juggernaut is slowing down any time soon. Souths were brave today but they still looked out of their depth and IMO the gap between Subiaco and the rest has not narrowed a great deal. It is important that teams like Swans, East Freo and Perth who have been in the lower part of the ladder for too long get better so we can reintroduce an element of unpredictably into the competition. Same teams playing for the flag every year will make it very hard to promote the competition to new supporters. Easier said than done I suppose. In the meantime enjoy the celebrations Lions supporters

Unfortunately for SF Mike. They just don’t match up well against Subi. And haven’t for the last 5 years.Subi just wear them into the ground.
Why I don’t see Subi doing another unbeaten season. With a ? point GF win,Anytime soon.It is a consern they still have the capacity to recruit players like Brandon Matera.Adding to an already strong squad.

Subi is a great club!

It must have felt more like a gorilla RL. Was only a one year drought though.
