Its funny that Mitch is still sore from bowling in the one day series in September…
I think he needs to give up bowling and try to fit into the side as a batter only

Drop Labuschagne and play Marsh as a batter and have Webster do the AR duties. But Webster won’t play unless Marsh isn’t fit…same XI as Perth…
Freeze sorry but while I don’t doubt what you are saying about Marnus, and I believe I posted a few weeks ago he was in trouble, you can’t keep dropping top order players and replacing them with middle order players.
I have no issues with McSweeney getting a game, but he isn’t an opener, and neither is Marsh. FFS we will be 2 for 7 off the first three overs.
It’s almost a sign of arrogance isn’t it, we will go against 150 years of tradition and just bat whoever we like wherever we want to bat them. I get the theory pick the 6 bets batters but if you go back through the 90’s and early 2000’s sometimes the 6 best batters in the country were not picked, the best batter for each position was picked.
Australia need to be very concerned what Bumrash will do with a new pink ball under lights but surely the batting coach is earning his money.
Go and watch the tapes his hand is outside his right shoulder when he is bowling outswingers, his hand is over his right shoulder when he bowls straight, and his hand is almost over his left shoulder when he is bowling inswingers.
I picked that up in about 5 minutes Sunday night surely with all the technology they have the test team can manage that
Between attending Coldplay concerts, rounds of golf everyday, counting their millions etc no one within the Australian Cricket set up has time for opposition analysis anymore PH!!!
PH not sure where I said Marsh to open or bat at 3 mate in my post…just said drop Labs, play Marsh as a batter and let Webster take the AR duties. If the above were to happen then I guess Smith will go to 3, Head to 4, Marsh to 5, Carey to 6 and Webster to 7.
Still will be 2/7, as Smith is cooked as well, but agree can’t drop too many at once I guess. Marsh is as much as opener as Smith and McSweeney arent…but the cards have been dealt, and one out of Labs or Smith needs to be dropped…
It looks like Hazlewood is going to miss the second test with a side strain, so who is in the frame to take his place? 35yo Scott Boland apparently. FMD why wouldn’t the selectors take the opportunity to give someone like Spencer Johnson, Riley Meredith or Lance Morris if fit a crack and inject some new blood into the setup?
Any half decent fast bowler would be licking his lips with Smith coming in to bat. Only have to pitch up on the stumps and he’ll wander off across his stumps and LB is there for taking. Then watch him walk up to his partner at the other end hoping he’ll say too high or going down leg side and ask for a review.
Then as the 3rd umpire gives out then the inevitable stare at the pitch and the head shaking as he walks off like he’s been robbed. Again
CA asked Nsw to play Adam Zampa in the match vs Tasmania.
Adam took 4 wickets in both innings for just over 100 run.
AZ is a traditional white ball Cricketer.Playing all over the world.
Probably not enough to remove Nathan Lyon.Who really struggles against India.
it has become time to pension Hazelwood
over the past three test summers he has hardly been fit enough to get over the white line
as much as I like Marsh he is simply too unfit to sustain a whole summer
Lyon is adequate but nothing seriously more than that
and if “selectors”, and I use that term extremely loosely, suddenly had regard for Zampa
after showing zero faith in any leg spinner since Warney
then that is a decade or more too late to be of any benefit whatsoever
(in saying that I have been informed that Lloyd Pope is being examined right now)
the old Aussie enemy of nepotism and who you know purple wanker circle that stinks of Victorian & NSW dog cunt has re-emerged with a vengeance and is killing the fabric of sport in this country
Here we go again. The Selectors have resisted any changes, apart from the forced one and put their faith in the team to bounce back. If they go 2 nil down, I think there may be some different players introduced in Brisbane.
Boland will do OK as a replacement for Hazlewood but I am perplexed as to why they think Marsh can bowl 10 overs in a day when he hasnt even rolled his arm over in the nets?
Hopefully the batsmen have come up with a better plan to combat Bumrah which involves trying to score off him, particularly taking some quick singles to rotate the strike. They will also have to contend with Ashwin or Jadeja ( or both) in this test
Mikey agree its funny that they are all saying Marsh can bowl if needed but when you watch him run, he just looks sore.
What I have found even more interesting this week was before the series there was a lot of narrative from the bowlers around, we can play all 5 tests, we don’t need to be rotated etc…
Now there is chatter about the 3 day turn around between tests 2 and 3 and the 4 day turnaround between tests 4 and 5.The schedule hasn’t changed for weeks, and we knew all along they are playing 4 tests in 4 weeks. now there are some nerves.
I guess the question is simply if they need to make changes for the third test who comes in, would be a funny look now if selectors go for an opener when they have overlooked one for nearly 12 months and there are no middle order batters knocking down the door with runs like we had years ago, when the likes of a number of batters could not get a game each year
you’d hesitate to post that Australia were in front after day 1 when Perth is in the memory bank
and India don’t really play well in the D/N format anyway
the scoring rate of Australia is still pretty poor and early wickets will see them struggle again
it comes down to how many the batsmen can scrape together
some very refreshing batting from Travis Head this afternoon
superb strokemaking at it’s best
finally some backbone & spirit today
Good win by Aust, knocked over the danger man in Pant early on, and the rest quickly followed. Looked like that India who lost to NZ recently at home, showed up for the Adelaide test, hopefully they hang around for a bit longer.
Complete turnaround from the 1st Test in regards to the result.
But digging deeper outside of Head’s cameo and Labuschagne finding a bit of his old form the batting was still average at best.
It seems to be the way with Australia’s batting for the last couple of years they rely on a cameo knock to do the heavy lifting, there is no consistency in the batting line up, and very few big partnerships in that time.
The bowlers looked better after looking like they needed the run in Perth (especially the second innings) although they always do with the pink ball in hand.
Lets face it if Australia are to win this series it will be off the bowlers yet again as outside the odd cameo this batting line up is very fragile!
I cant see India’s batting line up performing this badly again in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney (when not raining)!
What a howler by Marsh to walk and not review. His decision to walk obviously prompted the umpire to put his finger up.
BH whilst I agree with Aust bowlers continually doing the heavy lifting to get Aust over the line…you do know this is predominantly the same Indian batting line up that got rolled 3 zip by NZ just recently… who now are getting their arses kicked by Eng.
Take out Jaiswal, who is the equivalent to Head and the odd cameo from Kohli, Gill and Pant here and there, India’s top 6 are just as vulnerable as Aust top 6.
Interesting to see that Cummins sits 3rd on the table for bowling captains and 5 wicket hauls…Imran and Richie are top 2, with 14 and 9 5 wicket hauls respectively. Whilst Paddy may lack that captain’s nous of both Richie and Imran, you cant fault his lead from the front performances during his captaincy tenure
You have to give credit to Cummins. He is an outstanding leader no matter what people say about him and he has led by example in this test.
1 all now and the series is set up beautifully. India will bounce back in Brisbane as Australia did here.

Indians top order are balls deep with Bollywood stars and beauty pageant queens. No wonder they’ve lost their edge the last couple of years.
