Swans Debt

From Swans E-newsletter, and hopefully will clear up the club’s financial position with the ATO.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Firstly, I confirm that Swans has a significant tax bill with the ATO. However, Swans do have it under control. I would like to advise that the ATO debt mentioned in The West Australian article dates 16/1/13, is not a new debt, it is part of the losses incurred in the 2011 financial year.

Once the new team of Directors got in, we attacked it straight away and came up with a financial plan. We will be paying approximately 50% of it in the next couple of weeks and then work through a payment plan with the ATO for the balance.

We basically had to get ourselves into a position financially to be able to lodge everything outstanding with the ATO to a) be able to pay them a lump sum payment b) confidently work with them on a plan to cover off the balance. We were in a position to do so before 31 December 2012.

The substantial 2011 loss meant that we fell behind with all creditors and we then fulfilled a significant regional community program unfunded from July to December 2012. This was a significant sum of money and came at a trying time, though we were still able to run those programs successfully and finish 2012 with a small P&L profit; albeit with a very tight cash flow.

The Board of Directors are urging members to renew their membership and use the club’s facilities. Early indications at this time of the year are that Swans are going to be successful on and off the field.

Sincerely,

David Parkinson
President, Swan Districts Football Club

God id this happened at Perth our detractors would have a field day.

Well done to the PFC in keeping us out of this sort of mess. Keep up the Great Work.

 Now time for a flag.

Could you be so kind as to remind us just how long your clubs premiership drought has been dragging on for?

It’s a very odd post. We are the laughing stock of the compitition

Sorry Sacko have to disagree.

PFC are one of the best managed Clubs in the competition.

How many other Clubs have our financial record since 1999?

They have deliberately gone out of their way to live within their means.

If you were close to the Club you would understand that.

Thank christ it’s not 1999.

Im sure the majority of your fans would rather have a few losses financially (obviously not 800k) but actually make a final let alone win a flag which seems further awau for the PFC than ever before!!

Swandog if PFC had not done what it did in 1999 and beyond we wouldn’t have a club.

I am sure that even your good self can understand that, you’re passionate about your Club.

If we weren’t still here we wouldn’t be winning a premiership in the future.

I just hope it’s soon this old demon is getting on.

What I can’t understand is the so called supporters that would be far happier to see us gone.

Living within your means may not be what some people want but we don’t have (PFC that is) 3,500 members.

And some of our members are unlikely to recruit any.

Look i dont mind Perth and would much rather see them rise up the ladder and win a flag someday than Subi or East Freo for example, i reckon most fans from other clubs deep down would like to see a resurgent Perth

Hang on Swandog don’t give Subi and the Sharks too much shit, If the “WAFL Mag 7” refuse to play Peel Dorkers and EP Eagles you’ll need us two ???

It’d be a boring comp without us in it surely ???

Watch out, the WAFC might revisit the whole Perth / Swans merger idea again.. Remember the Swan Valley Demons idea that was thrown around about 15 years ago.

Lets hope not!

If Perth and Swans merged would the new club be left with even 1 supporter? How could you possibly follow the Perth Swans or the Eastern Demonsor some bullshit like that. Good luck with that WAFC

But think of how well it would be managed financially, Sacko. And just imagine an extra 3500k disgruntled members joining forces with the existing members, letting all and sundry know how we all would and could improve the team, why the team is crap, why the coach is crap, and why half the supporters are crap. Heaven forbid.

At least all the supporters would be able to hang their hats on a record of sound financial management, they wouldn’t be hanging their hats on premiership successes, methinks!

Perth and Swans merge over my dead body will never happen

Mine too George.

I dare say the above comment could be one of the plethora of reasons why the PFC has been nothing short of a laughing stock for 35 years! Hey dont worry about the miserable fact you have only made the finals 2 times in 35 years just as long as you keep making your massive 2k profit a year to stay afloat that is all that matters. Bloody hell there is no doubt Swans financial record of boom or bust has not been very well managed at times (terribly in 2011) but at least I have actually seen my team win 5 premierships, play in 7 grand finals & 19 finals series in the last 32 years!
Sheesh if only I could swap all that success for Perth’s massive 2k profits since 99!!

Sacko = Shane?
