I see the gutless little sniper got sniped AND DIDNT LIKE IT ONE BIT
bit different
when the boots on the other foot now isnt it ballantyne, and didnt he whinge about it
I think its called Karma, and I think there will be more of the same coming in the
next few seasons, could not have happened to a nicer bloke!
are you referring to him being jabbed in the family jewels?
Bit low punching someone in the nuts, At least the Geelong boys whack him while he is looking…
I think it is a bit of the big man syndome, they don’t like being intimidated by a smaller man.
Maybe a pest but the lack of control by Scarlett cost them a goal and Scarlett a suspension because of his inability to hold his temper.
Cost Collingwood a gaol as well and a suspension for Cloke. And more than likely could have cost them the game.
Who is the silly one!!!
There was nothing in it & Shaw fell for it. Ballantyne will cop his fair share but it wont faze him & he will hurt his opponents on the scoreboard.

Well said po ..he pathetically went squealing like a pig to the umpire as well after being touched up!
Ballantyne, what can I say.
Second rate overrated bucket of ****, comes to mind.
And yes someone needs to give him aq real touch up, then we would see how tough he was.
The next hard vball he gets will be his first.
Stephen Smeath had more balls.
Stephen Smeath was a very effective half forward flanker in West Perth’s premierships in '69 and '71. He had pace to burn, these days they would call him an outside player.
Cant say i like ballantyne…but if he played for my team i would love what he does. Gets under their skin and makes them react. He does also give away a few free kicks, but he definately gets more than he gives away. Everyone sees what he does and what he is like, why cant the opposition see that and learn to get around it? Wouldnt be too hard for a professional athlete…
Given the unfetted desire of the commentary team to try to find vision of Ballantyne causing Shaw to react and unable to come up with anything is indicative that Shaw was the one and only guilty party. It is amazing that any attack on Ballantyne seem to get the blessing of the media collective; yet most, if not all, clubs have a similar type of player to Ballantyne.
I am not sure why people do not rate Ballantyne as I would think that most people would want a player of his ilk in their side.
BH whilst you are fully aware of my position on Freo with respect to the WAFL hist club scenario I trust you will be equally damning of other players, and one G Ablett Jnr comes to mind, who have gone whingeing through various media about Crowley tagging him.
It is also interesting to see how the reaction of Whately and Robinson with respect to the Geelong player getting two weeks for a head high contact is in marked contract to their lack of zealotry on behalf of other players.
Further it was interesting that both Whately and Robinson were strident in their criticism of Freo for not accepting the Fyfe one week and were equally as dogmatic that this would severely impact Freo for the Collingwood match. Whilst I am not privy to every word spoken or written by the two of them post the Collingwood match there didn’t appear to be any mea culpa about their prediction on the Freo Collingwood match.
Swan maybe one of the dockers boys called Shaw a half back flanker and The Mayor of Mandurah said he isn’t even one of them. And then Shaw took offence to that.
Swan…I dont think that Ablett Jnr whinged through the media about Crwoley tagging him. From what I recall he was commenting on Crowleys tagging techniques whilst watching a game. Pretty sure he was advising the fact that Ling was a better tagger as he played the ball as well, not just the man like Crowley. I am not agreeing with GAJ’s points, other than Lingy was a better tagger, but I don’t believe that is whinging.
Also “yet most, if not all, clubs have a similar type of player to Ballantyne”? Not sure that is correct. If you mean similar as in a small forward, then yes, but the majority of clubs do not have that kind of player who has a sole (maybe not sole) mission to antagonise their opponent into giving away free kicks. Their would definately be a couple in the AFL, but definately not “most, if not all”!!
Soprano he was complaining about Crowley via social media THE WEEK BEFORE his team played Freo. Any credible person would have taken his comments as a criticism by him of the umpiring insofaras he was saying that Crowley was breaking the laws of the game and he was not being penalised by the umpires.
With respect to Ballantyne’s equivalent in other teams perhaps you need to dig a bit deeper. For starters try the Eagles and St Kilda and see if you can come up with any players with similar traits.
Complaining? I dont think he was complaining. Was just stating his position on the matter and on someones game. Not whinging or complaining. Are players not allowed to say what they think about anothers game? Is that whinging? Like when Campbell Brown called Matty Lloyd sniper, he was not complaining or whinging, just telling it how he sees it.
Obviously Milny would be an easy one to associate with ballantyne…but I dont see any others you could throw in there? Care to elaborate?
No Ballantyne at the Eagles.
Might be a pest on the field but that’s all he is,unlike some other small players from other clubs in Melbourne.
There wouldn’t be too many clubs that he wouldn’t get a game with.
But how quickly we forget the old time pest that played back in the 50s,60s and so on.All clubs had them. Ballas is no worse than any of them, may even be an angel compared to some.
If Ballantyne was playing in the 50’s or 60’s he certainly would not get a kick.

Yes he would…right up the date! Someone would iron him out and he’d spend the rest of his career looking over his shoulder. That happened to snipers that hid behind the ump’s whistle.
Spot on 58 Shark.
We are forgetting tht they have been around forever and a day boys.Remember Trizzie!!!being carted after gentleman Jack up ended him for his sniping.
Gee how quickly we forget.
He like so many other would get a kick in any age of football because of there greater skills now days than back then.
As I siad before he would fit into any side comfortably.
He also is a model for kids off the field, unlike some who could be named from other clubs.
