With Green, Inglis and Connelly returning from India earlier than expected, you would expect them to play the last few shield games, probably at the expense of Goodwin, Wylie and Joel Curtis who with Sam Fanning was the only one to put up a fight to the Vics. Voges has made it pretty clear he is not making any drastic changes for the last few games. Don’t forget Hardie and Cartwright and Paris were also injured and may be available as well. Marsh appears to have retired from red ball cricket

Would you look to play Curtis as a batsman ahead of Whiteman in the case that Inglis comes back in?
I have also heard that Green’s IPL team have asked him not to play shield cricket for the rest of the season, so he is fresh for them. Hearsay Gossip it could be but i wouldn’t put it past those franchises.
Bancroft, Fanning, Goodwin, Inglis (c), Connelly, Curtis, Wylie, Richardson, Gannon, Rocchicolli, Couch.
Assuming the other 3 are injured, gives us more batting depth and still have 5 bowlers

I agree , But I guess that you take the money, you play to their rules.
His career has been totally stop start since being selected for Australia.A back injury didn’t help.
I really do feel sorry for him .Maybe it is just me, but I get the feeling that he feels like he doesn’t belong.
He always seems to be on the outside of groups when on field.Almost like he is wanted.
So, the Shield side for the upcoming game has been released.
No Joel Curtis after being our best bat in a very average team performance v Victoria but we have brought back Cartwright and held onto Whitman.
We are wasting away opportunities here for Curtis and Wyllie to play some shield cricket and get them some experience games at the level looking forward to next summer. .
Whiteman’s having a Farewell Tour, when he should have had a nosh up and send off, after our last game.
Too bad mate! Inglis is the incumbent test keeper and therefore takes priority and Curtis, although our best bat last game, doesn’t deserve to be picked as pure bat.
I’m happy for Whiteman and Bancroft to see the season out as there is not really anyone that is performing with overwhelming consistency at grade level, and, they have both been stalwarts in our recent purple patch of success. We also need their leadership as we blood new players.
As i said above, happy with Bancroft to play. He is the 3rd leading run scorer in the competition. Whiteman has played his cards and will leave WA cricket for the UK at seasons end so my thought is to play someone else now.
I’d take Curtis as a bat now over Whiteman and Cartwright. 100% Inglis is in, never once doubted that.
CT I agree, I would play Joel Curtis as a batsman before Whiteman.
He’s got a sound technique.
Only his Captaincy saves an early farewell,Danger.
Wow just saw the batting line up and with Joel Paris coming in at 7 that would have to be the longest tail I can remember for WA.
Playing 5 specialist bowlers and with Connolly & Cartwright who can bowl overs as well that leaves the batting short especially considering how many of the top 6 are out of form with the bat!
Did I hear Townsend right yesterday?
WA are keen to have Whiteman’s Services for next year,…..
I’ll have to go over that interview with Matt Grubelich again,….
3/63 at lunch, Whiteman already back in the sheds for a duck.
Surprise,Surprise!

That Qld attack is probably their C attack…all bar one of the top WA 6 got a start…only 1 goes on to get a 50 + score…so Richo gets managed…why can’t Whiteman get managed?..for being PHSBD
Fanning tops scoring. I think he has had a pretty goog SS season hasn’t he!
Cracked the 200.
The WACAS are fighting back. The bananabenders 3/23.
Top score across all 3 matches has been 260 odd…Aussie bowlers are getting better or the Aussie batting depth is crap…
The latter…
Batting in Australia is crap - gone are the days where a number of players in shield cricket would have 1000 run seasons. Players just don’t know how to score runs and bat with intent to grind sides down.
I believe Handscomb is the leading run scorer with less than 600 runs from 16 bats - and we know how he fared when he had a crack at test level
