Hearty congrats to Rokahr and England on their tied Sandover success…took about 5 or so rounds before the umps realized Rokahr was a decent player and worthy of the men in green votes. The fella is a dual Magarey runner up, so good to see him win the big prize for a change. England is a class act who sometimes goes under the radar at Cl, especially with Bolton and Rogers in the team.
The umpires perspective is always an interesting one…Matt Parker plays 13 games and secures 17 votes, could consider himself very unlucky getting injured late in the season, would of romped home if he had played 3 or more games. Though not sure Parker was better than Winder this year…nor Schloithe better than Winder either.
It’s a midfielders medal though, and always will be. Congrats to Cl Menno Inveriarity on the Reserves gong(relative of John?), and Declan Pauline from EF on the Colts gong. Outstanding effort by Pauline considering he played the latter 1/3 of season in the reserves for EF.
When SD win a Sandover, and they are playing finals, they usually win the Flag. Krakouer in 2010 and Grasso or Wasley in 1990? Is that an omen for the next 2 games of the season?
Haydn Bunton Jnr in 1962, Phil Narkle in 1982, Mick Grasso in 1990 and Andrrw Krakouer in 2010. Swans missed the finals in 1996 when Jeremy Wasley won the Sandover.
In a weird coincidence, it was a tie in the SANFL Magarey Medal that was held on the same night.
In another coincidence SF4L, in 1967 Billy Walker and John Parkinson were joint winners, both tied on 19 votes.
Also same clubs again Swans and Tigers.
Well done Nick and Callan .
I thought the Sandover count was held the Monday before the Grand Final, not a fortnight prior?
The mainstream media lost interest ages ago, sadly.
However I believe SportFM did an excellent coverage of the proceedings.

Walker 1965 and a grand final…but let’s not talk about that.
Have not seen joint winners for the count in a hell of a long time. I think about 2004 or thereabouts for the previous joint winners, one of which being from Claremont from my foggy memory?
These two gentlemen are deservedly winners for this season. Congratulations all round.
