RUGBY at Perth Stadium

Watched the All Blacks wear the Wallabys down tonight. Not a live spectator, but from the comfort of home.
Have to say, not usually my cup of tea, but.
28/ 14 the final score. AB .
A game I find pretty boring.
Went to a Wallabies V France some years at Telstra in Melbourne. 80 minutes of my life I could never get back. Worse than any sports game I have ever seen.
Tonights game was tough and physical… but.
A good crowd, 60, 113.

Mate any sport where you can only go backwards, to go forwards, and kicking the ball out on the full on purpose, is to your advantage, is a head scratcher to me. I love my sport, but one I have never seen as enjoyable to watch…but hey each to their own I guess.

60,113 there? How do these types of things always beat the AFL in attendance. I don’t think either Freo or WC have ever cracked the 60K mark!

@Time_For_a_Flag , it is a novelty sport for Perth. Very seldom get a chance to see it live.
And, it is a world sport. Would have been plenty of Kiwis there.

The Rugbys must be an acquired taste?

Mate it’s an international event and rivalry…doesn’t happen every week…and Aust is the new NZ apparently in terms of Kiwi’s leaving NZ…plus they are AB indoctrinated

Rugby is a waste, but they are Aussie so always want them to win.
RL today as well. Totall different. I will be watching that. I think Storm will win that.
I always enjoy the SOO RL.

Being a rectangular arena sport there is room to add seats on the ground.

I have to say Perth stadium turf looked far far better last night than at any time during the AFL season.

Well it was an international sporting event Anchor…regardless of the sporting code. Good to see Optus folk looking at the bigger picture in terms of promoting the stadium internationally.

What a great NRL grand final. Magnificent game. Reece Walsh… amazing player.

That attendance does not sound right, I watched some highlights ( boring ) on TV …didnt look that full.

They got over 61K at rugby games previous, not sure how they extend the capacity.

@Bazza looked about right, wasn"t sure about the 113 but.
Yeah not a good game. But it was what it was.
A few vacant seats, and I am dure many left there seats to stand under shelter.

Depends ( imho) on what ya brought up on…many overseas think the jumper grabbing etc in AFL is schoolyard mentality and just plain dumb.
I find “most” ball sports at the highest level an enjoyable watch.
Sure im an AFL fan, BUT the NRL gf, left the afl Gf for dead…thats my humble look at it

@Unkatwo , I agree. But the NRL GF was maybe a one in a decade game.I have tried to watch the NRL, but maybe because I have no idea of the rule, that I don’t find it as game to love.
I watch SOO every year every game, because that is the highlight and peak of all NRL, international or other wise. There is nothing like SOO.
Not sure what you mean by jumper grabbing.
It is and always ways has been and always will be a free kick. The Yanks love out game. They are amazed that the game we play , the payers play with out protection.

Ohh the jumper pulling at say half time when half the team get involved…looks like schoolkid stuff (IMHO).
Im no knocking AFL, i love it…NRL, pretty easy to follow, AFL, unless ya know the ever changing rules is a mess.
My other thought, is NRL has improved their “game”, AFL has and is slowly wrecking ours…check the ever increasing stoppages,as a primary example

@Unkatwo I agree the great game of Aussie rules is fading. But still the best game in the world.
The AFL/VFL ear making sure that it is ever changing, for some strange reason.
Had my drothers, the first thing I would do is remove one umpire. Four is way too many.
Remember that the third was brought into being, before the hundred TV cameras stopped the behind the play thuggery.
Am not sure about the bounce, but appears most want it gone.
But there are far too many changes for change sake.
Stand rule MUST go.Hopefully the last touch does not happen.

Yup, agree A/man , AFL sorta created a monster, in that they want more speed and non stop action, good in theory, BUT there must be a point where it is just too crazy and insane. Players are heaps fitter and with no “SET” positions means more players get to more contests, which by definition means more stoppages. Maybe?? having 16 players on the field instead of 18, may help the congestion, which IMHO is a huge problem in our game

@Unkatwo I have no idea where they want to take the game, but sadly, every second tier competition is following suit with their rulings and rule changes.
By the way, did you see where the Preston FC , in the VFL have had their licence taken off them by the AFL. Apparently, all over a debt of $270,000 .One of the original clubs in the VFA or original VFL.
South Fremantle had Lenny Clarke come over in 69 and part of the 70s GF.He was recruited fromPreston.
Is this the same Unka from the previous site? If so, great to see you here posting. The second coming!!!
