PSA Fixtures

I’m trying to get my head around why there is a delay in releasing figures.

Of the who,one minute ir’s the Football Commission, the next it’s the Clubs.

But Why?

The PSA is a significant part of WA footy. Sadly junior footy is probably strongest in the western suburbs. Don’t think it hurts to have it in. I’d put in the state school competition as well, if that is still a thing. Maybe that comp is too big to fit in the format easily.

Actually junior footy comps in western suburbs have dwindled ever since the school ages changed. My point - is WA Footy now saying that PSA is part of the talent pathway?

And at no point would PSA team beat a colts side - the weakest colts side would beat all PSA sides every year - and I’ve watched plenty of both.

Recruiters don’t watch PSA footy to draft kids - they watch it periodically on players turning 18 who can’t play colts.

Next point is going back to an under 19’s comp which will take these issues out of the way and keep more kids in the wafl system for longer which will benefit all levels.

Mmmm,it could be argued that last year’s Peel Colts team, that didn’t Win 1 game last year, wouldn’t have got past,Scotch and Hale for starters.

Home or Away.

Add Aquinas and Wesley.

Also interesting looking at Week 1 of The Football Budget, didn’t name any PSA School associated with the Colts players.

Is the Football Commission trying to hide this fact from Footy Fans?

People just want to know the proportion of PSA and non PSA guys in each week’s Team.

Why the secrecy, unless the Budget rectified these omissions in recent weeks?

My point is more around kids are being forced to play PSA footy rather than a State Academy game. Surely State footy outranks school footy. Can you imagine if a East Fremantle turned around and said “No, Finley Yeo is playing for our colts and not the State team this week”
They would be laughed at but really its no different to PSA doing it.

PSA can play league footy for WAFL or state games. Colts or reserves is not permitted.

This year there is 7 lead up games to the 2 actual state games and PSA have said their kids are not leaving PSA to play in fun games. They can play in the 2 championship games. Until this year there was only ever the 2 state games.

Up to 12 of EP Colts is Trinity some weeks. Changes year on year but EP is heavily linked with Trinity.

And we’re supposedly heavily linked with Aquinas, unless they live West of Crawley.

There might be a way Perth could get their hands on those kids,if a Rule stipulated,if you attend a School 5 or 10 k’s out of your Residential Zine, you are automatically rezoned to that School’s Club.

Can see Claremont PUSHING HARD against that one BIG TIME!

Even so,if the Tigers had any of their City or Country Zones snipped,we won’t see one bit of it!

There won’t be any swapping the Kimberley for Avon either, because again,Claremont will be PUSHING Hard against that as well.

They will argue hard, they look after their Zones,we do not, with people complaining in the AVON we don’t!

Mind you,what people?

People with Cred in that area and a name to their Cred,or people with an Axe to Grind, staying anonymous in the process?!

If a Club was accused of being negligent of their Zones, they are entitled to defend themselves, earnestly debating people with Cred or flushing out erroneous complaints as an Axe to Grind,or a noted one with a frivolous Grudge.

The Zones are supposedly changing sometime this year.

But when and to what degree?

I suspect November and only a tinkering to be realistic!

not sure that changes anything but potentially add more players to Claremont given Scotch, Hale and Christchurch are in Claremont’s zone and have heaps of kids going there from other zone areas.

PSA on average has a very lopsided competition. Generally only 3 sides in the mix and on a good year 4. Hardly prestigious to anyone not involved in the school.

My point is it’s the tail wagging the dog and can’t understand why they are on the WAFL website. Wrong messaging.

Schools being zoned to a club don’t mean anything. The address of the player in the system it how it works. If everyone at Scotch lived in Midland they would be zoned to Swans.

Well yeah,I mentioned that to the effect that half the Aquinas kids seem to live West of Crawley/Nedlands.

PSA schools don’t have catchment areas like public schools. If you can afford the fees they don’t care what your postcode is :joy:

If you’re a good enough footballer they don’t even care if you can’t afford the fees, they’ll pick you up on a scholarship. Been plenty of good footballers at some PSA schools over the years having their tuition paid on music scholarships despite being tone deaf and lacking any musical ability :joy:

As it’s been stated though, WAFL footy zones are based on participation levels and the players home address not which schools they attend dictates which club they play for.

Claremont has a high level of PSA players because the State Government has shut most of the public high schools and sold off Scarborough, Hollywood and City Beach Highs land so there’s not much of a choice - Churchlands, Shenton College and the new Bob Hawke College or pay $30k+ a year for Hale, Scotch or Christchurch if you stay local or Trinity, Wesley or Aquinas if you go to Dads Alma mater further across the city.

Neat trick.

Put up a new Fixtures and Results Category on the WAFL Website and there’s no results to refer to.

I get it,it’s a Long Weekend,so we’ll catch it Tuesday,…maybe.

:upside_down_face:

PS - Nothing yet on Wednesday Morning after Round 1.
PPS - Still no results on Thursday Morning.

Good News.

I found some results.

Bad News

It wasn’t on the PSA Results Page of the WAFL Website and there were no Goalkickers and Best Players on the PSA Page.

But here goes -

Scotch College 14.11 95
Christ Church 11.5 71

Hale 11.8 74
Wesley 8.7 55

Guildford Grammar 4.6 30
Trinity 19.8 122
