Why wouldv’e there been a parachute agreement after the first alignment Freezin??We only housed interstate aligned Eagles for 2 seasons which was normally 4 or 5 playing on a weekly basis as well as them covering ‘‘BOOBY’’ wages for 2 seasons. We had 2 or 3 Eagles or Dockers playing with us pre and post alignments like the rest of the WAFL clubs on a regular basis,so the extra couple of Eagle players we got over a 20 game season for nix probably saved us 20 or 30k but i’m only guessing. We probably saved ball park figure maybe 150 to 180k ball park figure for those 2 seasons which made inroads into our debt, but still probably left us in the red, because today i’m told a WAFL CLUB has a break even figure of around 1 to 1.5 million.I can’t see any reason why they wouldv’e been obligated to pay us anything for the 2002 season where we thankfully kept ‘‘BOOBY’’ and paid his wages accordingly and the majority of our list minus the aligned players, and it was a totally different scenario to the second one where 14 to 15 weekly players suddenly disappeared of our list.
[quote=“ROYAL 2019 post=206790”]More than a few people have told me a third alignment is being negotiated at the moment. More on East Perth’s terms but obviously the death of the EPFC. And the WAFL without EP is crap anyway.
Geez, I sincerely hope a third bloody alignment is NOT on the cards, ROYAL 2019.
Surely Bronte can “read the room” in terms of the angst it caused at the club.
I’d rather we build a team with what we have, topped up with some judicious recruiting.
Sustained success will take a while with our current squad but I have the patience to wait.

I’m with you Archie, I was totally blindsided by this. The source of the information is very trusted, but if the issue has any legs I’m unaware. Things would get ugly if Bronte advanced the concept. As far as recruiting goes I believe it will be very limited. The club won’t be spending big bucks chasing success.
I know Tom Percy would be opposing this if there is any substance to the story.

I might have a word to my contact at the club when I call in on Friday, ROYAL 2019.
Whether he confirms or denies the rumours is anybody’s guess.
Despite our onfield struggles in 2021, I’ve enjoyed seeing the development of several of our promising players.
Having the lily-livered, non-committed fringe Eagles players wearing the sacred blue and black again is not something I and many others Royals fans will be able to tolerate again.
Indeed, royallucky, Tom Percy was the one board member opposed to the alignment, though I suspect he had a few allies come 2018.

I was just talking on the phone to a EP life member..And told him about this thread and the possibility of a MKiii East Perth +Eagles alignment.
The person i told said that he attended an Eagles pre-season lunch. And Bronte was sitting on the main table with Nisbett and Simo. And with all the other Eagles big wigs. And in a conversation Mr Nisbit was full of praise for EP and Bronte. So it sounds like the Eagles have been working on this for a while now.
I really feel for the EP faithful. You are getting back some respect from the WAFL public and suddenly your fat arsed car salesman could well be ripping your club to pieces again. Unfortunately you need a coup to get rid of your disease and I don’t think that will happen.
A coup is a wonderful idea, 58shark, though I think you’re right about it being unlikely unless Royals’ rank-and-file supporters can find a metaphorical white knight to contest the presidency.
I think that was more of a possibility in the pre-Eagles days when WAFL was king.
These days, rich businessmen/women are more likely to cosy up to the Dockers or Eagles than a WAFL club.
As gtrxuone mentioned, I don’t doubt that Bronte is still mates with the Weagles big wigs.
I give Bronte credit for plowing $ into the EPFC (admittedly, he’s in danger of serious injury if he fell off his wallet).
However, I hope he doesn’t fall victim to the old sucking-up treatment from Nisbett, Simpson & their cronies.
I think a lot of Royals (myself included) stuck with the club during Alignment Mark II waiting for the announcement that it - like “the war” - was over.
I have better things to do on a Saturday arvo than go along to Leederville & other traditional venues if a new alignment raises its ugly head.
if ef ever aligned (let alone twice) I would throw my membership in the bin & NEVER return & then join my local amos club
