Port Adelaide To Enter The VFL.

[quote=“DD post=232738 userid=1749”]And when we cut the apron strings with the AFL and the WAFC is reduced to a relic of the past we’ve got a product to sell to the streaming services to cover WAFL, SANFL and possibly what’s left of the old VFL. Pitch it to Kayo or 10/Paramount+ and Amazon Prime. Maybe even 9 might get off their ass and get interested.

Cant see many streaming services being interested in a third tier comp mate, they arent interested in state comps now never mind a downgraded one, Fox used to run wafl games for a while didnt last.

Don’t worry the AFL would stump up the cash to make it viable like they are doing already because the top tier wants to see the next talent on display. It just needs to be a better product than it is now. Clunky streaming from a web browser is a sub standard product. Needs to be on a proper streaming service where you can just hit the remote, select the match and press Go with the ability to pause and rewind and preferably to watch from the start if you didn’t watch it live.

I’m pretty sure the VFL is on Kayo or was.

Any thoughts on the new wafc board member? What makes a good board member?

Surely Andrew Lockyer is the sort of person you want on the WAFC board, he has dedicated his life to the WAFL and his coaching and mentoring of the youth squads has demonstrated he is right for the job. Do we need more accountants, will one more make this mob better money managers? I think not, more real WAFL people is whats needed. FMD, I hope this decision has not been made for the sake of gender equality!!!

Not saying anything against the lady. I’m sure she is good at accounting. Surely a passionate wafl person appointed in the role would be a good choice?

Looks like the SANFL have increased their salary cap to well over 300 thousand grand, so what will the commission do, match it or sit on their hands.

Interesting about the salary cap, Winger. Can we match it? I imagine not. Agree SS. There is no getting away from merit. Sex, skin colour etc should be irrelevant. You want the best person for the job. Knowing who that is, can be tricky though.

safe to say that only a select few would know what the agenda and criterion was

Another talent drain on the WAFL - players from Australia that might have come here will head to SA for better pay.

Our 1950s ran WAFL clubs cannot sustain the pathetic caps we already have, SANFL clubs have pokies to fund them.

WTF would AFL continue to fund an irrelevant third tier comp does it live stream A grade Ams? in the future when it will be live streaming the reserves comp and perhaps the colts development levels ?

The WAFL, SANFL and VFL are the feeding grounds for the AFL. Always have been always will be. Yes most come through U/18’s but they still want to see the mature age ones to find the next Tim Kelly, Matt Pridis types. Why do you think they are streaming them now? Because they want to provide a service for WAFL fans? Lol.

They are streaming it because they have a mid season draft mate they saw Jaiden Hunter from my club pop up kicking goals then sent scouts to watch his third league game against your mob at Fremantle Oval. Jaiden kicks 5 we win the match happy days for Jaiden and Essendon, game over for us right there.

The real good U/18’s get promoted to play league games too remember.

They won’t be “feeding grounds” for much longer any talent will be sucked up into the next tier replacing whatever role they have left now, that’s what will be covered.

I doubt that, there is already effectively a defacto reserves comp operating so we are only talking about potentially the Perth and Adelaide clubs joining a reserves comp.

How many WAFL players will be able to commit to the travel requirements and training flexibility WAFL clubs can offer? It will be a big drain on the AFL who are already under the pump money wise meeting women’s football demands which doesn’t even pay for itself.

I see the second tier comps thriving.

Unlike WAFL, AFL has money to burn, second tier comps thriving ??? - you mean the AFL 2nd tier …WAFL and SANFL will be third.
