I’m thinking an Ashes Test would be huge and I think already pencilled in but failing that I think an EPL fixture between two heavyweights like Man United and Chelsea would attract enormous international interest and easily pay for itself.
And I would love to see State of Origin return but I can’t see it happening unless the top players push for it.
An Eastern Derby between Swans vs Perth would be the most appropriate opening!
The 2 clubs that have serviced the Eastern Suburbs corridor that the Stadium resides forever and a day.
I really would love to see it a AFL Derby, between theFremantle Dockers and the West Coast Eagles, but I can’t see that happening. It must be opened with an international event. That is other than soccer.
Ashes test has to be the first option and no 2 Western derby or big soccer match.A 5 day test is a good way to start the stadium.Attendance over a possible 5 days.$$ and a good way to work through all the initial problems they will encounter.Just hope it plays like a traditional Waca wicket.
Has to represent historical WA events. Why not fill the audience with Kevin Sheedy look alikes waiving their jackets whilst Ross Lyon enters the arena dressed as Mohammed Ali & singing " we are the greatest"

No they would probably want a traditional WAFL club so that counts Swans out.
Not trying to be funny - but 4 Wafl matches on the same day at the same venue would be a historic event. Wouldn’t it? As far as I’m aware, hasn’t been done previously. One match starting at say 11am, then the second match starting at
2pm, the third match at 5pm because then the lights would be turned on. Then the last match starts at quarter to eight. If the Wafl isn’t synonymous with Perth and Western Australia, not sure what is?
My 5 cents worth.
I agree WAG the WAFL made football in this state not WC or Freo.
How about a quadruple header like this-
11am- WART vs FART (The Alignment Derby)
2pm- WP vs CL (25 year Anniversary of the 1993 GF)
5pm- EF vs SF (The Fremantle Derby)
8pm- SD vs PH (The Eastern Derby)
All 6 Traditional WAFL clubs have a match of significance whilst also having the 2 AFL affiliates as the Curtain Raiser kicking the dew off the grass for the 6 WAFL clubs!

You’re taking the piss…aren’t you :woohoo:
Like Perth Arena,Fiona Stanley Hospital,Elizabeth Quay,the Children’s Hospital.Anything else? :pinch:
Actually, who’s the builder to the new stadium again?

Well ahead of schedule mate …the site just got a shipment of new building materials from China in today ..via Wittenoom! :pinch: :silly:
I could handle that WAG.Seems like a great idea, but nor sure that those in charge of the new stadium would agree.Remember that this is not going to be a stadium that will rely entirely on Aussie rules.
But a great idea.
Not Perth Areana grassy. That was 1 year behind schedule. Perth Childrens Hospital was supposed to be finished August last year..Stanley Hospital was anead of time about 3 months.
