I see Lyon has been flicked for Zampa in Friday’s final one dayer against India. Stanlake comes in for Behrendorff who has a sore back apparently and Siddle keeps his spot. Lyon would be on shaky ground for the World Cup squad you’d think.
Could be, also could be a case of they know what they have with Lyon and want to give Zampa a further chance to develop. The squad for the one day games in India next month will be a huge guide and chance for those to press their chances for the World Cup.
Do well in the one day squad in India and then you are pretty hard to leave out for the World Cup.
I think we are being a bit unfair on Finch in relation to his white ball record. While most people agree that his technique is not up to test standard, he has performed pretty consistently in ODIs and T20s up to this season.
In 50 over cricket he has played 98 games for 11 hundreds and 18 fifties at an average of 37 and a strike rate of 89.
His T20 record over 50 games is 2 hundreds and 9 fifties at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 156. Certainly not Kohli like but pretty tidy nonetheless and I think if he can sort out his current technical flaw he has a few more big scores in him.
In a time when Aust needed him to stand up with senior players suspended mikeh, the fella has been a tad disappointing…great record when not playing as the main man…perhaps get him back into that role by taking the captaincy off him ..though as MO will rightly point out, Warnie would do his nut…too close to the WC anyway…just got to hope Finch finds his white ball form again…playing regularly of late in the UK for the shorter formats will hopefully help come the WC…interesting to see Aust ODI prep is in India and UAE…conditions so far away from the UK it’s not funny…perhaps it’s been done from a spinning perspective when Aust comes up v the likes of Moeen and Kahn in the WC…
I can see the headlines now…“Fatty Finch Fails Again”.
Yep and Carey hasn’t really worked either at the top of the order. May need to reconsider someone like Head to open as he has a tighter technique. Finch really does need to sort out this problem he has with the in swinging ball as all bowlers will ruthlessly exploit this if he doesn’t.

Good point…
Gee they will be lucky to score 250 the way this is going. India will chase that down without breaking a sweat.
Maxwell gone…they’ll be lucky to make 200 at this rate.
once more Australian batsmen have proven themselves to be totally clueless against decent leg spin. This bloke Chahal who has been sitting on the bench in previous games comes in and takes a lazy 5 - 40. Really depressing Australian cricket at the moment and probably for a fair while to come.
Make that 6 - 40. India won’t even need to get out of second gear to run down 230. Very disappointing performance
Couldn’t agree more Mike. The whole thing including team culture, red and white ball performances and our standing on the international stage has turned to shit under Lehmann, Sutherland and Pat Howard’s watch. I don’t envy JL’s job one little bit with idiots like Hohns and Greg Chappell pulling the strings.
Agree mikeh…totally clueless v spin…more so than any other country on the international circuit…even worse when the selectors have picked a side specifically to combat spin through the middle overs…so little time left now before the WC…unsure on openers, middle order, allrounder, spinners…power or conservative…Will take a miracle for this side to go deep in the WC…

Luckily the complete NON BIASED wa media are so fair as well
After 7 overs another great performance by Richardson. Skidding the ball and surprising the batsman with his pace.
Just talking about Superstars of this 50 over game.MS Donhi wow so cool at the wicket.
Scary thing about the Indians they have another 4 or 5 in the shed who cant get a game!!
At this point of time you could say they were favourites for the World Cup, but they only played a weak Aussie team, so hard to judge.
True 58, but dhoni Kioli bumrah jadaya are world class, heck even Pant cant get a game.
England are the overwhelming favorites for the World Cup but India will be their main rivals and these two will play off in the final IMO. As for Australia, they will be struggling to beat Afghanistan as they have a couple of decent spinners which the batsmen will no doubt have some problems with.
Mitch Johnson puts an interesting spin on who he thinks should captain Aust at the ODI WC…Maxwell…definitely left field, but can’t see any changes to the captaincy being made so close to the comp…all depends on giving Finch enough opportunities to bat his way out of his current slump…Will go either way…be interesting to see what happens if Finch fails v India and Pakistan…can’t even say too good a player for that to happen…average at best
