New WAFL Footy Facts Website

Hi all

I have spent endless hours over the last 5 years researching the WAFL including recording all available quarter by quarter scores and goalscorers for all teams going back to 1929.

My aim was to share my reseach with fellow WAFL fans. So here it is.

This is my first ever website, so welcome any feedback which can be provided on the site or on here.

The website is www.waflfootyfacts.net and although there is already lots of information in it, I have left a few placeholders which will be completed over the next couple of weeks.

I will update the website after every round of fixtures outlining some interesting and obscure facts from each game each round from the extensive database I own.

Enjoy…

Ladder page now updated:

  • includes win loss records (ladders based on match ratio - win loss %) for each decade, underage years, post WCE and Dockers, post Peel entry into WAFL as well.

I will add updated here as I do them

Thanks

Well done mate site looks good I’m sure I’ll be referring to it to settle a few arguments in the future thanks for sharing all your hard work .

Thanks for all your hard work and effort WFF !

Thanks Leedy and Flying Falcon for your feedback.

Yes a lot of work has and will continue to be done to get the site going, much to the wife’s displeasure I am sure…

I have fixed a few little typos I noticed too. I didn’t have anyone other than myself QA so might still be a few others…

Cheers guys

www.waflfootyfacts.net update

I have cleaned up some more typos and corrected a couple of error.

Also have made the score boxes stand out a bit more on the venues page. Should have similar information for the teams as I have in the venues sections by the weekend.

Also round 2 predictions are up.

Cheers All

Brilliant mate. Thanks. Need to find some time to get lost in there…

Great site mate can see myself spending hours on that

Had a quick look today - will need to find a few hours to browse through the various areas. Looking at the Teams section now - I noticed that you have listed some other defunct teams from the early days of the WAFL. I may be wrong but I had some recollection that a Midland Junction team may have participated at some stage. I am by no means certain that that is correct. I just thought I would mention it in case someone can definitively say whether or no that is the case.

Well done and thanks for the many hours of hard work it must have taken to get it to the current level. That site along with this Ozfooty site is what is needed to ensure that the history and future of the WAFL can be maintained and enhanced.

Also, as a matter of interest how helpful have the WAFL clubs and the WAFC been with your research?

Thanks guys, yep you’re both spot on, not sure how I missed that one. Both North Fremantle and Midland-Junction have been added to the side not on the teams page. Eventually all their records will be added, but trying to get current teams and venues done first.

Swan42 - I have done all this research without any assistance from the WAFL or WAFC - I have not asked for it though. I have had some help from others as stated on the home page, not sure whether those guys had any assistance from them or not. Brad was able to supply me Swans information as I think he was the swans historian for a while.

Thanks for that. The more we can do to ensure that the WAFL history doesn’t die the better.

Just a suggestion: if there is an area of the WAFL you are researching perhaps you can let us know via this ozfooty site in case anyone has any reference material which may be of use.

Thanks swan42. Great idea.

My missing qtr by qtr scores can be found here http://www.waflfootyfacts.net/missing.html

I will add the missing player data - goalscorers that is, once I have updated all my team and venue stats. I am hoping to add goalscorers in the near future.

What I do need for player data is a list of all players for all clubs, I have this for swans, but if anyone can help me with this information it will be brilliant.

In some of the last few Annual reports for Swans they have listed all the Swans players or alternatively the 75 year anniversary book of Swans has a list of the players. Perhaps other clubs have done similar things so some of the posters who support the other clubs may be able to provide you with this information as well.

Thanks Swan, I will contact the other clubs and see if I can get anything. I have everything I need for swans thanks to Brad and for now II have enough stuff to keep me going for a while with bedore addding player records.

I will be uploading the updated team pages tonight, just got to do west Perth, then I will incorporate all team stats into a league records page.

Throwing it out there, following Swan42’s ideas, does anyone have have a list of all players that have played for their team? What I am after is a list of who played in every game - I have this for swans and obviously from the waflonline website from 2006 onwards…

waflfootyfacts.net update

Hi all.

Heres the new additions to the site:

  • Round 1 review updated
  • Round 2 review added
  • Match result boxes added to Teams pages
  • Changed top link from Comebacks to WAFL Records
  • Added WAFL records page which includes extensive Game Records with more to be added over the next few weeks
  • Few minor errors and typos corrected

Hope you are enjoying the site, and please let all your WAFL buddies know about it…

Cheers
Ric

Waflfootyfacts just a suggestion. On another topic on here we were having a discussion about All-Australian selection and there were some that weren’t aware that WAFL and SANFL players had been selected in AA teams prior to the expansion of the VFL. Perhaps at some time in the future you could provide the names of the WAFL players, for each club and the year(s), who have achieved AA selection.

Thanks Swan42

Yep definetly something to add for the future. I haven’t even thought of how I am going to incorporate player stats records AA team etc yet. I will probably not get any player information in for a couple of months as I am still in the process of cleaning up my player data and have ore team and venue related data to add.

Cheers and look out for another update either tonight or tomorrow night…
