Looks like his career is over unless he changes his stance on getting vaccinated. Already been told he can’t train with the club. I imagine the same applies to WAFL players so suiting up for a WAFL club would also be out of the question.
apparently he released a social media post this afternoon contradicting West Coasts statement saying that he was on sick leave and that he had a doctors certificate. Rather confusing to say the least.
Very strange the differing stories, pretty obvious which one is the correct one though and Jack looks rather silly for not just speaking the truth.
A maligned player but I think he’s a top quality forward with plenty of good footy left in him and will be a shame for the game if this is where he decides to hang up the boots, would probably have got to the 500 goal milestone.
Was the sick leave certificate a move so the eagles can’t dock his pay ?
Apparently he hasn’t complied with the AFL’s player vax rules by the due date, so he’s in breach of the AFL/WCE Covid rules and is stood down until he complies, I think his pay then drops to the equivalent of $23k annually rather than $500k+++ he would be on.
Surely the fact that 99% of his team mates have complied should allay any vax fears, which he probably heard of on some totally unqualified “influencers” podcast or on some Tinfoil hat brigades website. Sorry Jack but you are a complete numpty.
He’s sure us a numpty!! If 99% of his teammates are vaxed, what’s he thinking? They are still walking, talking and training, so what’s your problem Jack??? He has the choice of leaving the game with great credentials or being known as the twit that destroyed a great career over vaccination.
Simpson came out today and said that he was hopeful that Darling would still be a part of the season. The indication was that he may be waiting for the protein based vaccination (Novavax) which should be available sometime later in February.
I saw that interview Mike, but I can’t fathom what his problem us. Still, I can’t understand any if the anti vax twits either. I think that with a lot of them, common sense flies out the window because “they’re not going to tell me what to do “.

Do his kids have their other non-covid vaccines like everyone (Meningococcal, measles etc) Government tells people to get those before kids are allowed at day care, kindy etc. Whats the difference?
He should have picked a more worthy cause to live and die by. What a flog.
Not sure if that’s correct, does the government really require kids to get those vaccines before they’re allowed to attend daycare and kindergarten? My wife might tell me different but I don’t recall anything like that with my kids. And I’m no anti Vaxer i do what the authorities tell me to do when it comes to vaccines. I’m more concerned with what I put my body through from the ages of 15 to 40 than a few ten second jabs from the Guv…
And Darling is dumber than I thought if he is seriously going to waste all that talent and dollars on this stuff
No Jab no Pay
Looks like Darling may go on the inactive list. They picked up ex Richmond player Naish and will trial him on the weekend, interesting! Dixon signed on, good luck to him, but shit news for the Sharks. Hope they end up on passing on Strnadica and Joyce, but I won’t hold my breath.
Seems Jack has managed to get out from under his wifes and MIL anti vax influence and is now reportedly had his 2 shots, just waiting on the paperwork to be approved by the AFL before joining the main group. I think he may have lost a lot of credence with his team mates over his selfish approach. If he ended up getting the jabs why not do it in January before the original deadline.
Talk about drama queens. This mob always forgive and forget whatever they do.
They always back good players in. Never sack them.
Yeah you would be wondering how the players will feel about him after all that. Of course they will downplay it publicly but they wouldn’t be human if they weren’t pissed off with him. Given his layoff I would say they wouldnt pick him until he has picked up his training regime for a while and he may be kicking around in the WAFL for quite a few weeks and be made to earn his place in the side.

They never do that mike. He will come straight back in. They never drop big name players.
They give them chance after chance when out or form. They back them in. It’s always
same old no name players. That’s how Simo works. Always has been, always will.

I think the Eagles have got this right, people may disagree with me on this but I think for a bloke who cops a mountain of shit from both West Coast and opposition supporters I think he’s a top shelf forward. Jeez he cops some shit for his dropped chest marks in the two grand finals, and rightly so, but never much mention of his gigantic third quarter (premiership quarter) in 18.
As Roman said they treat big name players differently (like every club in the country does) and you can’t or shouldn’t sack a player of Darlings calibre if there’s a chance of him still playing. And he’ll be fit as a fiddle he’s a complete professional.
There may be a couple of players that will be peed off with him and for good reason, but life as professional footballers has to go on. He’s another Rowan Jones…. unfairly criticized. I’ll be first to put my hand up and say I have criticized him on a couple of occasions, even though I knew I was being unfair. You can bet not one AFL team would have sacked him and they would have been watching the outcome just in case. De Gooey was never in line to be sacked either.
Well now he’s back I hope he has a good season along with Mcgovern so they are attractive in the trade market that will help WC re-build after season 2022.
Will be out for a month due to an injury.
