@UNKA - you’re very quick to stick the boot in when it is anything WCE related. Why is that? Nic Nat easily had his best game for the year and probably had his best game since 2012 yet you do anything and everything to shoot him or WCE down?

Not at all, call em as i see em. Eags should have won on sat, played better for most of the day. Had his best game, maybe so. Now that in reality was a MINIMUM of what you would expect for a man on that money, YET he hasnt done it since 2012! I think my criticsim is fair. The Cats kept Mark Blake instead of Mumford, and he was bloody hopless. If he wasnt so “marketable”, do you think he would have held his place in the team this year on form???

Good point Unka, they can’t afford to drop him.Who would they have their OOOOS and AHHHHS for if he wasn’t playing.(just kidding) :cheer:
TBH AM i think thats a really dumb question.
Cox played his part no doubt and he rucked to some gun midfielders, some of the best going around at that time, the Eagles dont have that depth of midfielders anymore.
NN has mnay more years yet to reach his best and with that who knows?
I havent seen Sandilands as yet deliver the Dockers a flag.
If the Eagles win a flag in the next 5 or so years(which i doubt they will) NN will have played his part along with 21 others.
I remember not long ago Geelong playing Hawkins for a long stretch of games out of form, carrying a hidden injury or whatever and the word coming out of Geelong at the time was he wasnt going to be dropped to the ressies.
Cloke at Collingwood is another,he has patches every year where he’s out of form yet he never gets dropped.
Every club has them or has had them at some stage, sticking with players out of form.
Generally Ruckmen and Key forwards get more lattitude from coaches when it comes to form, rightly or wrongly.
Some on big bucks,some not.

I think the comment saying “his best game for the season” is indicative of how far below par he is.
A bit harsh you think anchor? Maybe I get a bit like you - tired of people pulling the crap out of a person, not because they’re no good, but because of the team they play for?
So i will ask the question in all seriousness 58, IF nic nat wasnt so marketable, would he still be in the ones?. For what it is worth i am stunned how cloke hasnt been dropped though
That’s not a question that you or I could answer unk. It would all depend on where they see him fitting in to future plans and as to whether they believe in what he has to offer this future. ala some of the players 30 spoke of.
Gee 58, ya ever thought of taking up politics  . Thats such a fence sitting reply . Im NOT asking what they see in him mate, i am asking YOUR view on that question.
I must be reading too many articles in The Australian newspaper!! In answer to your question, yes I would persevere with him. There’s too much promise there to bury in the reserves. I really believe that it’s a matter of time before he starts to rip games apart.
I think he would be, in fact I would almost guarantee that he would be playing. Once again, when fit and firing he is easily the best tap ruckman in the game. Granted he hasnt hit his best form yet but that time will come.
A dumb question!!!How so?
30 let’s not forget that Coxy gave these blokes you mention silver service not just now and then but every week. He was as good a midfielder as was going around in the Yella, He was the premier tap ruckman in the league at that stage, he constantly got 25 to 30 possessions a week, he constantly took between 10 and 15 marks a game, he constantly kicked two to three goals a game. He constantly took match saving marks in the back line when the side was trying to hold on and save the game. Did he win a premiership for them? some may say not alone but he was the mortar that help the bricks together.
I don’t think it is a dumb question at all.
As Barney said there is a marketable salary cap which I heard on Grandstand is 1.2 million per year. Use of this cap needs to be qualified to the AFL. So in saying that, NicNats player salary cap income is about the 500k mark. Which is more to most peoples liking I’m sure.
In NicNats form he had groin surgery in the preseason and is still finding his fitness. Leaving him in the two’s wouldn’t be the best for the overall team, simply because I don’t think Simpson believe’s he is going to win the flag in his first year.
Not sure that really means much if you can’t get the ball Shwa.
Gimme a player like Peter Matera who was quick, very quick, and had the ability to get the ball 25 to 30 times a game and kill sides.
