Hawthorn fallout- Fagan steps down will Clarko be next?

Shocking claims by an ex indigenous Hawthorn player has resulted in Chris Fagan stepping down as Brisbane coach pending an investigation and Clarko could be forced to do the same. Poor old North can’t take a trick. This is the biggest story in AFL since the Essendon drugs saga. Watch this space.

The “family club”. No more can they utter those words if allegations are true.

You couldn’t dream this shit up if you tried in this day and age. Just allegations at the moment but the fact that Fagan has stepped down does give it some credence.

The AFL never sleeps on and off the field!

The ABC on grand final weekend, neither coach offered a chance to refute allegations.

Hopefully not a disgruntled player, hard to imagine another human in such an environment being so heartless.

It must be remembered these players were contacted as part of Hawthorn’s external review at its own expense. They are not true whistle blowers. What do you expect them to say?

The big question is, are these isolated alleged incidents at Hawthorn or is this type of allegation widespread in the AFL? Could the beginning of the AFL’s #metoo movement.

Disturbing allegations that must be properly verified for the sake of all parties concerned. Non of us have much clue unless we were able to read the report.

I’m gobsmacked that it has been released in Grand Final week, taking away the limelight from the 2 competing clubs. For both the Grand final and the parties affected by this report, it should have been release after the GF so it can get everyones full focus.

Not according to the ABC journalist who broke the story.

This is mind boggling. It’s hard to believe a couple of coaches would go this far nowadays, yet it’s also hard to believe someone would make this up. If the coaches are guilty, then they will pay the ultimate. If the person making the claims is lying, he has to be treated the same. We may never be told the full story.

I was curious who might have spilled the beans so I scanned through a few past drafts. Pretty sure I know who one of them might be and he’s a local drafted from WA who had question marks over him prior to being drafted. I choose not to name him and others would be wise to do the same.

You’ve got me wondering now DD. Can you list the names of those blokes that were drafted, or would you rather not?

2013 draft.

Got it. Let’s hope it the real story comes out…not the story the press want to print. One point though, whatever happens, the 2 coaches have mud on them and some will stick.

All this BS is going to far, throwing allegations out there, time and time again we are seeing this trial by media BS, and pandering to keep and be seen to keep the woke mob happy, all about getting a big payout at the end.

You can’t be serious Bazza calling this as trial by media, keeping the woke mob happy and they are in it for the money??? Cyril Rioli walked away from an AFL salary at the age of 28 because of this stuff. Way too soon don’t you think to the detriment of his bank account.

As I’ve said already, this has come out as a result of Hawthorn’s own enquiry stemming from Cyril Rioli speaking out about why he left and retired prematurely. These players probably never had the courage to come forward before and to this date they remain anonymous. I’d say it’s going to be hard for them to remain anonymous as this new AFL investigation takes it’s course.

In the meantime a couple of coaches have enjoyed all the plaudits and trappings that come with success but at who’s expense? This is just the tip of the iceberg, you wait until ALL clubs are subjected to this style of enquiry, there will be many more stories like these to come out and not just from indigenous former players.

I agree with parts of what Bazza said, I hate that individuals have had mud thrown at them without the right of reply. The journo who broke the story claims he gave Fagan 24hrs to respond but I have little or no respect or faith in journo’s given past performances by some. The fact that they can name individuals before the full AFL process has even begun is in my opinion disturbing, it leads to the same situation that the wokes and Mee2 brigades love and thats wanting to turn the ideal of innocent until proven guilty on it’s head, if these groups feel some wrong doing, they want us all to believe the person they named is automatically guilty because they’ve said so. If individuals turn out to be guilty, then throw the book, the kitchen sink and anything else hand at them, but until proof of guilt, individuals should not be named. By all means identify the club and broadly outline the allegations, but thats where it should rest until there is proof one way or the other.

That’s all good and well SS but Hawthorn Football Club would had to have been named anyway and everyone knew they were conducting their own external review of past indigenous players so it wouldn’t have been too hard to join the dots and journos would have had a field day over the speculation.

ABC have form for this and they also have form for getting it wrong, it’s to late now as you say damage is done, and that’s exactly what they want to happen, the constant hyper ventalation about Aboriginal issues is over the top, the AFL is basically do back flips and contortions each season trying to keep this mob happy to the point of ad nausem repetition. There would also be some left wing political motivation here to add to the big national state enforced guilt trip to vote yes to the vacum, (voice).

Excellent point Bazza.

“There would also be some left wing political motivation here to add to the big national state enforced guilt trip to vote yes to the vacum, (voice).”

This issue has come out at a very opportunistic time for Elbows and his woke brigade wanting to do a snow job on us.

may or may not have been good enough on the field but was an absolute ‘all-star’ off the field
