Interesting reading the various opinions on this topic, so here is mine. I’m on the fence with Earl’s tenure. The first year I thought he was doing exactly what we needed. Playing young up and coming players and I thought we looked great. Byrna, Burke, Levien, Flash Gordan, Burke, Roe, Scotney, Leggett, Johnson and of coarse Zac Fisher all getting games and definitively something good to build on. Year 2 we lose nearly all of them because of travel, AFL and injury. Year 3 and we simply don’t have the cattle. This year I thought was going to be a good year, some of those younger guys that are still around have developed and now have a bit of experience… I think Earl did what he could with what he had but I want to know why Gordy lost interest, why Leggett wanted to move on, and where is Scotney and Levien etc. Did they leave because of Earl or some other reason?
PD1899, this is my winners and gossip argument. Why this, why that? Earl’s fault, not Earl’s fault. At some stage, and I reckon 5 years is a good stage, you are entitled to look at the results.
And when you do they are embarrassing.
Now I for one would have forgiven all if we made finals last year. But we didn’t,
Every PFC coach starts with an arm tied behind his back because of the zone, Earl was no different. That is why , no matter what else, making finals would have been a great achievement,
But we didn’t make it. And we should have.
So, yeah, floppo.
stt: indeed, you tipped the PFC to make the finals, I remember our little debate well.
