Drug Scandal at Bombers

Essendon Football Club have been rocked by an allegation some players used performance enhancing drugs during the 2012 season. It is believed a fitness staffer was behind the distribution. The Club have approached the AFL/ASADA to investigate the matter. At this stage it is not known how long this problem has been an issue.

Further to this story. The fitness staffer was sacked in November. This opens the question did they know of these allegations at the time of the sacking & hoped the matter would be suppressed. Interestingly the AFL have just gone through a inquest on drugs & how it handled by the Clubs & the governing body. No mention of this issue during this gathering!!

Could it be “the weapon” has been a naughty boy or was it someone else?

Was not the weapon BC.

Certainly not good news if it is true.I am amazed that it wasn’t raised at he drug summit.Maybe it has to be investigated before any more can come from it.
I am just waiting for the bleatings to come now. :cheer:

To be fair the drug summit was about recreational drug taking. This is about a performance enhancing sustance. The question does need to asked when did this knowledge first surface? It is alleged that the Essendon FC required players last season to sign a document releasing the Club of responsibilty for any practices under taken in their fitness regime. The fitness science person in question has been named on Melbourne radio. He spent time previously at Geelong FC. This story has huge ramifications for the Bombers…& maybe other Clubs???

Are you sure about that VF??
The Weapon was in the same role at both Geelong & Gold Coast before Essendon & isnt it funny how all 3 clubs have come out in the media with a statement today on this topic!!

My info is it was “way above the weapons league”. The bloke Dank seems to be the one

Who cares about Essendon , they have always been filthy scum and think they are better than everyone else . Hope they get well and truly opened up this time - f-cken drug cheats .

Think James Hird better start looking at a job in the media, as he said himself the buck stops with him and the football department, a few heads must roll.

Hirds head would be impossible to roll with those big wingnut ears hanging off each side .

They wouldnt be the only club either!! I hope the whole comp goes under! fark em!!

According to news reports ‘The Weapon’ was sacked by Essendon last night!

After the horse has bolted it would seem!

Secessionism

Mind blowing that an AFL club would agree to recommendations to inject players with anything other than cortisone or other common forms of injections to treat injuries.

Who was runner up in last years Brownlow? Jobe Watson could be stripped of his medal win if he was one of those players. And if this took place at Geelong this will rock AFL football on a scale similar to the Lance Armstrong revelations in cycling.

As I understand it this was broken by Reimers to one of the local meida outlets, why wait til’ now and why do it in a manner that smacks of publicity and a bit of a dummy spit.

He obviously thought it was ok while Essendon were paying his wages but now it is Perth … .
