De Goey hit

Not sure about how the media really feel about some , in my opinion , real football acts.
Like the Jordan De Goey bump on Josh Worrell in last nights qualifying final.
Some times it looks like they go looking for stuff to either cause chatter and gotcha moments.
To me it looked like JDG was actually trying to smother the ball and the contact was incidental.
I know that the AFL want to stomp out unnecessary head high contact, but sometimes this type of contact is more accidental than intentional.
Does JDG get time or a reprieve or a fine?

Will be an interesting one AM, I know after the Brayshaw incident a few years ago the AFL ruled that smothering is the same as bumping in regard to the ban, but really would we want anyone to miss a final for a action like that. It had no effect on the game and the bloke he collected played on

PH, apparently a $2,000 fine. Sure some rich supporter will make a big hand shake for that.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.
Yeah not what you want to miss games for.
But the Brayshaw one was totally different to this onr. Should have been time for Maynard I reckon.

There was zero attempt to smother the ball. He knew he wouldn’t make it so left his shoulder out there to clip him, just didn’t expect to hit him in the head. Should have gotten a week for it but its finals so people get away with blue murder in finals.

Christensen is ex pie player, hence not surprised
