Big Bash

News today that Melbourne will be having only one BBL Franchise, wearing Navy Blue (big surprise there) and possibly to be known as the Melbourne Bushrangers.

The Renegades Franchise will be sold off which leaves the players possibly merging into the one team.

How will that affect the Sydney teams? Will the Governing bodies be happy with 7 teams or will they maybe look at a merge between the Sydney teams or even yet a new Franchise.

I recall reading years ago that there was too much talent in Victoria for only one team so maybe it’s just a quick fix of sell dollars for a licence?

Common knowledge they are state broke so I see an Indian buyer coming up real soon

Given Cricket NSW’s Opposition to Cricket Australia’s recent business moves,I think NOT!

I know a Renegades Supporter who will NOT be happy with this decision!

I can’t clearly see anything has altered enough to go down to just one team when taking into account the import player allowances and the retiree intakes

It is a dollar grab for the VCA on the face of it

Desperate Ca$h Grab for sure!

Odb, I thought Renegade supporters would be over the moon.

Even though their men and women have both won titles and the Stars haven’t, I get the feeling that the Renegades think they are treated like little brother and sisters.

Well,that Renegades Supporter isn’t.

So much talent that the Vic teams have consistently pillaged WA’s talent to bolster their two sides.

Tye, Hogg, Behrendorff, Harris, S Marsh, Voges, Cartwright, PariS, Stoinis, Coulter-Nile to name a few.

The WACA and SACA should both get the same opportunity to sell off a second license.

I think it will open the flood gates and a couple of other states (namely Tasmania and WA) will look and should be allowed to sell their big bash licence. Right now there is not enough money in the Big Bash and what’s there goes to second rate overseas players. The better ones go to South Africa or Dubai at the same time of year for more money. Let the money flow and allow players to get paid what they deserve, or don’t be put off with Aussies playing in other leagues rather than the big bash

Or Cricket Australia can bite the bullet and explain why they’re doing what they’re doing, why they’ve been losing money hand over fist and why they’re such experts in what future direction they’re taking Australian Cricket and how that pulls in the money, they’ve previously been losing?!

I don’t think it’s all on Cricket Australia Grassy, when it went to vote last week NSW (which is basically cricket Australia) SA and QLD voted no to privatisation and WA, Tas and Vic voted yes. It was then supposed to be consultation and more meetings so I reckon Vic cricket has done this to get an influx of funds but to also thumb their nose at the states that didnt want privatisation.

You can guarantee the scorchers have a buyer lined up - why else would they be playing their first game of the year at home in India this season and not at the Furnace?

Which will go down like a Lead Balloon, certainly with the Scorcher Public.

Cricket Victoria in reality are thumbing their nose at the people who support the Stars and the Renegades and sucking up to a bunch of administrators who have lost a lot of money and are taking the easy way out,to Bail them out.

If they keep winning and have the financial backing to strengthen the side the public wont care, as long as they don’t change the name to RCB scorchers or something like that

Keep the blindfold on,until we’re sure they haven’t.

I’ll keep you posted,…. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
