I was listening to Bruce Eber+Dean Jones. They where highly critical of the Scorchers tactics.
Another loss for the Scorchers after a reasonable start to the match. The Sixers had a big 3rd wicket partnership. And a competitive total on another slow east coast wicket. We also had a good 3rd wicket partnership after losing early wickets. But where to far behind the net RR to challenge for a win.
Next match Boxing Day at Optus V last year’s winners Adelaide Strikers. Hoping for around 40,000 to attend the night match. Our fragile top order will be tested against Adelaides good bowling attack.
GTR why on earth are they playing so many bowlers in the team and a complete lack of specialist batsmen?
2 pathetic totals are the end result!
Absurd stuff!

Looks like a lean year for all Wa Cricket.
Early days yet, but the batting doesn’t give you any confidence. Still, not to worry gtr, WA has has the best Aussie Rules football Club in the country.
According to Karl Langdon the crowd estimate at Optus 45,000 to 50,000.Scorchers v Strikers.
Which is only around 15,000 short that went to the same venue to watch a test match for 5 days a week or so ago. Great that people of all ages are engaging with the BBL 20/20 etc, find myself enjoying the test cricket (which you can easily find something to whinge about if you want to) and 50 overs more but hey whatever gets people interested and involved.
Ooly just good to see a wicket with a good cover of Green Grass. That horrible Mcg test wicket.
Spot on GTR, how good is it to see cricket played on a proper deck again like Perth Stadium tonight as opposed to the MCG borefest road!!

The owners of Aussie cricket cannot let states produce wickets like we saw today. Like it or not, the coming generations don’t want the old style test cricket. They want fast moving action, be it 20/20 or tests. I agree with them, as old as I am, I was all over the first 2 tests, but don’t think I’ll be all over this one unless something changes dramatically.

Some of thoes T20 batsman go to water BH.Against good fast bowling like the Scorchers produced tonight.Wickets like the “G" will destroy Test Cricket.
Jhye Richardson would have to be moving into contention for a test spot if any of the current quicks break down. He would certainly be in the running for a tour to UK next year. I was surprised that he wasn’t picked in the current squad although Tremain and Siddle have been in good form as well. Also watching Billy Stanlake steaming in last night made me think that Australia has got some pretty good fast bowling stocks at the moment. In the long term maybe the batting is looking a bit more promising with the likes of Sangha and Pukovski making good shield runs.
Mike what do you think of Berendorf. He also bowled really well last night.
Big game down in Tassie tomorrow night.Hobart Hurricanes are 3-0 and fixed up the Scorchers last year in the first match at Optus Oval. They chased down 170 tonight.
You really have to wonder about the mentality at the Scorchers who are continually playing a batsman short with Agar coming in at 6 it is a very long tail…the end result another pathetic total this time 107!

Looks like Wade+Short will get there in 10 to 12 overs.
P poor effort again. One of the many disappointments of the Scorchers team is Andrew Tye. He was pretty damn valuable last year, but I think it’s time he went back to club cricket. I cringe when he comes on to bowl atm!!!
I think the main problem is the batting 58Shark. They havent had a decent start yet and you are not going to win too many games when your’re 4-19 in the power play. They have a spare overseas player spot so maybe they could look at one of the indian batsmen who wont be playing in the one dayers? They desperately need a specialist batsman to hold the innings together.
Good point mike. If they could grab a couple of top line o\s batsmen, it might shake a couple of our boys up. I still think Andrew is in bad form, but I hope I have to eat my words…very soon!!
Looks like another really difficult challenge for the Scorchers tonight. The early match at Spotless Stadium between the Sixers and Thunder, woman’s T20.Had a score of 100 on a very slow wicket with the low bounce. All the big wicket takers so far in the BBL are spinners.Leg spinners are having a really good Bbl
