I have a few questions for anyone in the know at Steel Blue?
Why is the grass damage that has been done to the outer been allowed and why did works only commence so close to the season when it sat vacant since September 24? Putting up new lights should not cause that much damage. It looks like a desert.
Why has the oval and surrounds had groundwater pumped out constantly for the last 3 months? Banks at back of river end are starting to erode..Are the heritage stands safe from collapse or severe damage?
Why are the lights so high? They are a visual monstrosity from up to a kilometer away.
Why are the massive light towers right on the fence line effecting sight to the game and scoreboard? Why not at the back like other grounds?
When will the new lights be operational? They dont look like enough to give sufficient light?
Is the project well over time and well over budget?
Is the contractor suitably experienced to complete the job?
Why did the can bar improvements only get completed on season eve when all the construction material was delivered just post season 24?

I can only add on the bolded section above. Some might be old enough to remember when the Perth to Guildford road passed around the back of the scoreboard instead of behind the grandstands as it does today. The ‘new’ alignment - 1975 - partly followed a dead end track near the ground called ‘Brook Street’ that got its name from a creek that flowed inside the present ground’s perimeter to the river. A bridge allowing the Perth to Guildford road to cross the creek once exited in approximately the member’s carpark; basically, the creek is still there, and its presence is the reason why the foundations for the lights between the two grandstands is taking longer to pour than the foundations for the lights that are already installed on the other side of the ground. It is also the reason why the ground is sometimes awash after very heavy rain from the Walker Stand to the members. There is no risk to the two stands. The error made was that no-one appears to have checked the location of palaeo-channels that have required the extended use of spears to dewater the soil before concrete pouring occurs.
Your lights are probably just training lights hence built close to the boundary. We had them close to the boundary before the Eagles moved in as co-tenants.
Yet another insipid display at the sandpit outer Basso Oval.
Outside of a couple of the regular competitors not too many fired a shot after qtr time.
Some players are more done than my overcooked roast for dinner last night but no one at the club is game enough to tell them their time is up!
