If Ravindra and Mitchell are still at the crease by lunchtime tomorrow, I reckon it will be game on. They will be only around 150 in arrears if this happens.
Australia wasted a golden opportunity to completely bat NZ out of the game and hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite them on the bum.
BH don’t you refer T20 to being just hit n giggle mate?..but kudos to JL for having that on his CV..
I get your frustration with the current set up, and I agree change is needed to put some folk on notice…but sadly a solo performance here and there, covers over the cracks of the others failures.
Surely Hughes at 35, is a backwards step in this Aust transition folk on here bang on about…but agree Voges was an inspired selection at the time.
Good morning to all the sleepy heads in Perth, it’s just gone 1pm, and Aust it seems has scored another lucky win under the R&P regime. For all the uproar re Aust top 7 collapsing again…it’s interesting that NZ didn’t get past 200 once on this pitch, and just shows either both top 7’s are crap or it was a pitch that favoured the bowlers more then the batters…both with ball and bat.
Yes Aust top 7 are a mess, and their ? was once again saved by one individual going over and beyond in their performance. Hopefully Green will gain confidence and some self belief from that 174 , as in the whole context of the game, it was the end difference between the two sides.
Well done Gary and his 10 for…obviously lots of holes to fill in this Aust team, but for now, the same 11 will come out at Hagley on Thursday to frustrate the R&P haters once again.
Lyon cleaned up the Kiwis.Solid 172 run win.
Despite the fact that NZ have been a decent side most of this century.Only two test wins V Au in 30 years.

Yes you can argue about the lack of succession plan, the selections and the tactics but you cannot argue with the results over the past 12 months.
World Test Champions
Retained the Ashes
ODI World Cup
5-1 win loss record in tests so far this summer.
This is a team that knows how to win the big games and you have to give some credit to the management of the team headed by McDonald for proving all the doubters wrong. I have to admit that I wasn’t a great fan of McDonald but happy to concede that the results speak for themselves. I think we should celebrate this team while it is still playing because it won’t be long before many of them ride off into the sunset and a new era starts
Sadly Pucovski has been short balled again…probably take him off your list BH… but probably add young Olly Davies to it…Green 4 Hardie 5 Davies 6 Inglis 7 might be a future Aust middle order…with Goodwin or McSweeney at 3…
Was a sad sight seeing Will Pucovski go down again with another blow to the head.
I daresay that might be the last we see of him, I hope not as the kid is a talent (saw firsthand that 240 he made at the WACA as a teenager against a good WA attack) but his health must come first and I believe that was his 12th concussion in his career now.
The kid just doesn’t have a clue how to play the short ball…though Meredith is no slouch when it comes to bowling clicks. Agree BH, a fit and firing Pucovski is just what this current Aussie top 6 need.
Such a sad story, Pucovski has the talent to be a ten year player for Australia, but like Angus Brayshaw, health and life come first
Yet another average batting display by Australia, this time rolled for 240.
M.Marsh as I suspected just too leaden footed against proper Test seam bowlers whilst Carey should be dropped for good now, he is like Healy late in his career, just holding out a far better younger keeper/batsman in waiting!
Great spell by Henry
Great catch by Philips to end Labas innings.
Kiwis hanging in their at 1-55.Williamson overdue like Steve Smith. No turn for Lyon, atm.
Marnus was unlucky, it was a brilliant catch but as the great Don Bradman said once, if you don’t want to get out caught, don’t hit the ball in the air!
Pretty limp batting performance by both teams in the first innings to be honest, the pitch seems to have settled down so it may be a higher scoring 2nd innings. Crucial breakthrough by Cummins before stumps to remove Williamson who is the type of batsman who could score 200 on a docile wicket, pity that Carey dropped Latham just before stumps, how much longer are the selectors going to put up with Careys continual underperformance with the bat which is now seeping in to his keeping.
Unfortunately we are now the seeing the result when our continually underperforming batsmen fail every innings, never under threat of losing their position in the side with the clown coach constantly making excuses for their ineptness, it is putting enormous pressure on the bowlers who are struggling to have any impact in the second innings at Christchurch.
The bowlers have for the most part been carrying the side for well over a year now but when they cant deliver we are just at minnow level with the batting and the off field coaches/selectors!
Maby a Kiwi win here is a good thing.
Pressure has to mount on Ronald McDonald.
As it is atm.We will be thrashed by India next summer.
Ground hog day for Australia. Get ready for a rough week at work Freezin unless someone plays a blinder.
GTR & Mike yep you are both spot on groundhog day continues with this inept batting.
Just when you think it couldnt get any worse we lose our entire top order in the short spell before stumps.
How on earth DiVenuto keeps his gig as batting coach is beyond me???
When was the last time we made 400 in an innings???
The Kiwis made batting look easy for the best part of 2 days whilst we stumbled and bumbled in an hour on what should have been the best day for batting day 3!
NZ should have this long overdue home win vs AUS parceled up by lunch tomorrow if not the first drinks session!
They have created a real problem with the move of Smith to open. He looks like a walking LBW against the new ball and they are not going to shift him back to 4 when Green is settling in as a long term player in that position. Smith is also becoming a Shane Watson, wasting reviews when he is plum LBW
Australias only chance tomorrow is if Marsh and Head tee off in the morning session and are somehow able to reduce the target to under 100 without being separated. Long shot though as both were actually lucky to survive the final session tonight so the likelihood is that the game will be done and dusted in the early afternoon.
Rain early this morning
.Suns now baking the pitch
.Heads gone,
Mitch just bought up 50.
Carey looks ok
Need 141.
Great win against the Kiwis. Carey’s innings with 98no off 123 balls pivotal with Marsh’s 80.
New Zealand dropped that game - Australia shouldn’t have been anywhere close to winning
Young Sears shown Australia that youth is the way - dumb farks coaching wouldn’t see that , what’s the bet a 35 year old gets a call up
or stick with schitzo Starc who you never know what is going to get dished up
Time to go new generation while the going is good
