Australia v New Zealand test series

BH do you think we can turn Wade into a genuine all rounder.Thought he bowled ok the other night after Hazelwoods injury.

Probably only a part time bowling option mate a bit like Ponting, Hussey, Martyn etc were as I dont think he is a genuine all rounder except when he keeps wicket.

Can Astle turn the ball much Freeze and can he hold the bat as I can see he might come in for Santner with Boult to replace the injured Ferguson.

Not sure mate…I chat with big brother Nathan every time I walk my dog locally, as Nathan owns a business around the corner from my house…I will seek the low down from Nathan next time we chat…

I didnt realise Todd was Nathan Astle’s little brother Freeze?
Fair age gap between the 2.

So Siddle has been added to the squad for the boxing day test but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will play in the game. He would have to be picked ahead of Pattinson and Neser in order to make the XI. Langer has also flagged the possibility of playing 5 bowlers in the test and dropping a specialist batsman which may be a bit risky given the rather wobbly nature of the batting line up

Goog thing about the MCG test will be the crowd.. Very poor at Brisbane & under average at Perth.. Who cares about the wicket. It’s just a game

Piddle must have compromising photos of Langer or Hohns to even get called up surely.

Todd and Nathan aren’t related mate…it is apparently a common misconception that a lot of folk think because they are both Cantabrians…standing joke over here Nathan said in the Canterbury cricketing circles.. which just sums up the Kiwi SOH…strange…

I am starting to think the same BC fair dinkum the bloke looked well past it when picked in the recent Ashes clash at The Oval where the Pommy batsmen couldnt believe their luck this bloke was picked and then subsequently feasted on his medium pace on far more bowler friendly wickets than here in Aus and allowed ENG to square the series whilst being completely outbowled by the much maligned M.Marsh in both innings I might add.
What a perfect opportunity it would have been to bring one of our many promising young pacemen around the country (Richardson, Kelly, Meredith, Conway, Hatcher, Sayers, Stanlake, Steketee etc) into the squad to rub shoulders with the likes of Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson etc but no instead they bring a 35yo well past it medium pacer along for a knees up FMD!!

Yep agree BH…I reckon I could have made runs off Piddle at The Oval and I haven’t picked up a bat for 30 years. All of those you’ve mentioned would gain invaluable experience being in and around the Aussie Test squad especially for the Boxing Day test but I reckon Henry Lawson got it right when he said Langer has his little favourites and isn’t afraid to pick them. FMD. :frowning:

You had me nodding in agreement right up until you mentioned that flog Lawson BC…any chance he has to have a dig at WA or West Aussies he NEVER misses!
I find Lawson about as interesting as dishwater and or reading Cody Leggett posts!

Haha, yes BH. I don’t think Henry Lawson would holiday much in WA. He is probably still bitter about that 91/92 Shield final at the WACA which Langer actually played in!

But I agree that they have missed a great opportunity to introduce a young bowler into the squad. Langer has a big say in who gets picked but there are also other selectors such as Hohns who would have to concur as well.

chatter that four pacemen are to play - one of or both Wade & Head to fall out
if that’s on - the top order batting is crucial because it’s a long long tail

Had to laugh at a few old WA boys like Damien Martyn calling out that NSW knob Lawson today.
His hate for everything and anyone WA smells of someone with a deep seated grudge and Mike I have no doubt that 1991/92 Shield Final in which Lawson who was Captain/Coach of the overwhelming favourite NSW against an inexperienced WA that lost the unloseable and probably his job for the long term…haha bad luck Geoff! :cheer:

Joe Burns first ball dismissal to Boult today is no doubt why he wasnt chosen for the Ashes Tests in England this year.
Was a great ball by Boult but Burns forward defence had a gap as wide as the Polly Pipe, you could drive your car through it!

BH-Crash Craddock was talking after the first days play.He thought if the Kiwis batted first they would by 5 for at lunch.

How bloody ordinary was that very scratchy 38 by Wade GTR?
Was hard to watch as he didnt even look like hitting one in the middle of the bat.
If he is in the best 5 bats in the country currently then we are in a world of trouble if and when the likes of Smith, Warner & Labuschagne have a run of outs.

The best “shot” he played BH was the ball bowled at his hips that he headbutted with his helmet for a legside four byes! This bloke has the repertoire of a cardboard cutout at the moment

That looks like a pitch the batsmen didn’t trust one iota - it could be a minefield
400 will be a difficult thing to chase on that

bh, too, I can’t believe the man averages thirty and is in our test side
