Aussies in India.

First test starts Friday.I am not sure we will particularly well over there this time round.
Our batting line up has still to be settled properly. Our slow bowlers are below par.I said slow bowlers not spinners because I don’t think we have a spinner.
Our quick will have to work their butts off to make any inroads into the Indian batting on low slow wickets.
All in all it doesn’t look good I don’t think.Hopefully a couple of the young ones can lift their game and give us some hope.

India are pretty average right now, but they’ll be too good in the conditions for us.

We simply won’t be able to handle the spinning conditions, and our spinners aren’t good enough to exploit them.

Pujara will score a mountain of runs IMO.

I can’t say that the Aussie team looks to be all conquering. Maybe a little fragile, but I hope they make me eat my words!!

Aslong as they win back the ashes from those poms eh 58

Agree with this. I fear our fragile batting will be embarrassed by the Indian spinners. The sooner they get Watson up the order to open with either Warner or Cowan the better.

Good move leaving Maxwell and Doherty out. They are both hopeless spinners. Lucky we’ve got the best spinner in the squad in the team though - Michael Clarke. He’ll need to bowl a fair few overs you’d reckon. As might Warner if he’s up to it.

I agree that Clarke is pretty much the best spinner we have; shame his back is screwed so he can’t bowl as much as we need him to.

Agar took 3 today for WA and looks a very bright prospect for the future. Ahmed also took 5 for Victoria and may come into calculations when he becomes eligible for Australia.

Yeh saw Agar today and he looks the goods, i will predict he will play a lot of Test cricket for Australia just hope they keep him away from the shorter forms as this will ruin him, nothing surer. The best weapon he has i reckon is his height, this really allows him to get above the batsmans eyeline easier which is very deceptive..and ofcourse he turns it unlike our current spinners

Well we stretched the elastic band so far and then it snapped. In heap big trouble now.India now lead by 192 on first innings
It is going to be hard to hang on now.A wicket of rolled clay and worn to dusty in nature.Hard work ahead for the boys.

Everyone predicted a smashing and thats what we are gonna get

Whilst I don’t envy the Aussies batting on this track, be nice to see some down to earth Aussie grit…but besides Clarke who in this side plays spin with any assurance?

Watson gone already…geez this guy is the best 15 - 30 run player Australia has probably produced in the last 20 years…thing is who is gonna replace any of this eleven if Aust get done by an innings or 10 wickets…Smith, Maxwell and Doherty don’t actually intill me with confidence…

christ Cowan and Hughes now gone…at least with Cowan the selectors new what they getting…a solid left hander who averaged 30 odd in the Shield, who has carried thru to the test level…Hughes on the other hand does better at the shield level, teased us initially, then again of late…but sadly all the work in the world on his technique will come up short…no matter who’s the Aussie batting coach!!

Were looking at a big defeat here hopefully its not by an innings and we make them bat again

I have no doubt that India’s spin bowlers are better than ours, but this pitch is a disgrace having said that they made 572 but i can’t remember Lyon and co getting the same turn, bounce and the ball keeping low as it is now absolute mine field at the moment.

Any chance of Agar for a call up? Can’t be any worse than the “best” Aussie spinners we currently have. Hope not…WA with a chance in the shield comp.

The pitch is a disgrace, there is no doubt about that but our spinner(s) need to bowl fuller and slower - like the Indians do. They bowl too many darts. Lyon has got faster and flatter the longer he’s been in Test cricket. He got selected in the first place because he was a flighter.

Good effort on debut by Henriques to score a 50 in both innings, the first Aussie to do so since Bruce ‘Stumpy’ Laird vs the WI in Brisbane over 30 years ago.
Nathan Lyon is an honest toiler but he will never trouble the Indian batsmen on the sub continent until he develops a doosra IMHO!

He needs to bend the elbow 15 degrees + to get a doosra going!

How in the hell he and Malinga’s bowling actions were ever declared legal is beyond a joke. Murali flicks it out of the back of his hand with the force of a bent arm (that’s how he gets so much pace)and Malinga has the most side armed action i’ve ever seen. Looks like a 4 year old throwing a ball.
