According to the ABC … Doesn’t effect me but others might be interested
Best news I be heard all year. His time at the helm has been a disgrace. Great move!
MMM I guess the boys sooked and didn’t like being treated like men.
I am not sure he was the right man for the job,but when the players start to play cricket and stop being Prima Donnas then Australian cricket will go forward.
Yep its happened.. Incredible really.. Lehmann should of got the job originally with his record.. Maybe a few players should follow him?
Cricket Australia makes the ALP look like a coherent organisation. WTF is there to be gained from sacking Mickey Arthur 2 weeks before the ashes??? Many of the current players are overpaid and overrated and I don’t know how any coach could control the behaviour of some of this lot. If they were serious about dumping him surely the time would have been after the India debacle.
CA also shot themselves in the foot in regards to the Warner incident by effectively depriving the team of one possible player before the first test. If people honestly think that this decision is going to help Australian Cricket, they are kidding themselves because the problem is more deep seated than a coach, remember Arthur is the guy who took South Africa to number 1 in the world. I think some of the guys in the highest echelon of CA need to have a look at whether they should continue in their roles. Meanwhile the Poms will be giggling in their lager, only the English weather will save us from being pumped 5 zip
Spot on Mikeh as usual with your comments. ![]()
Exactly how I see it as well.. It is Bullshit. They have just used him as a scapegoat but lets look at the others like Inverarity and the selection panel. They seem to have their favourites and at least 4 players have been selected when their Run record does not warrent it B)
This crap about resting players which does nothing for the morale of the players concerned.
The tweet and discipline problems are endemic in the team right up to the top.
This includes The Captain without a ship Clarke.
I like your comparision with the Labor party disaster because that is so close to the mark.
The poms must be laughing and watch the media go to town in the UK.
A little bit of humour (not that its funny) I like no 5
Mike I think the difference between us and the Saffies is that they had a bloody good all round side, could bat, could bowl could field.
We suffer badly in comparison. The batting is without doubt our main weakness.Far too many who have got games for doing nothing.
The bowling will suffer because the batsmen can get enough runs for them to bowl to.
We don’t have a genuine spinner. We have slow bowlers who don’t turn the ball or have dip and swing.
The Saffies had it all they could bat well down the list and had the bowlers to back it up and their fielding was superb.
I see Smith has been brought into the squad.I thought he would get a spot in the squad in the first place because at least in India he looked like a batsman.
nothing to do with Arthur, Invers or the other selectors..
its to do with the players - they are the ones who lack discipline off the field and cant score runs on it..
I agree MO but as I said the tail wagging the dog.The players have influenced the decision I think. They didn’t like having to do some home work. Didn’t like being told how stupid they were to be out drinking with the Poms after they knocked us off.
Precious players = disaster.
You obviously think that Arthur was doing well then? Were you not calling for Hardings head a month ago?
Micky Arthur took Sth Africa to no.1 in the world so he must have half a clue..
Harding’s best is no.3 in the state..
as they say you cant polish a turd and Australian cricket is terrible talent wise from top to bottom in regards to batters bar Clarke and Rogers..
Who is Harding!!!
Tonya anchorman..
Ahahaha
Who is Harding!!!
Its a little ‘in’ chat with Olsen about Greg Harding Anch
Gotcha.I was wondering what position he batted.Like so many of the Aussie players I have never heard of right now ![]()
And in another development to rock Australian cricket, Michael Clarke has resigned as a selector.
As part of a review of Australian cricket two years ago, the coach and captain were granted selection powers.
But Clarke has repeatedly come under pressure to step aside from the role.
I have just been reading the various quotes from the parties involved and I came across this little gem from Michael Clarke
Clarke said he was shocked upon hearing Arthur had been cut but said his thoughts then quickly moved to maintaining focus on the team’s performance.
"This is a decision made by Cricket Australia, it had nothing to do with the players or nothing to do with me personally.
So there we have it. The sacking of the coach has nothing to do with the Captain or Players. Dave Warner can sleep soundly at night knowing that he had nothing to do with the coaches demise. I mean really what planet is Clarke from??
I think it is good to sack him. Obviously the performance in India was terrible, champions league also, if we kept it all the same then obviously the ashes was going to be a whitewash (could still be, no doubt). Everyone is complacent with Mickey, and they dont feel the need to push themselves and perform, as they will keep their spot on sub par performances
Chuck Boof in there, he will no doubt be a bit harder on the boys. Also, everyone will now think they are vulnerable to lose their spot and wont be just going through the motions (like they have been with Mickey that last year). I think it is a bit harsh on Mickey, as no doubt he is a great coach, but something had to be done, and I think by changing the coach to Boof, will sort out a bit of the problems.
Guess only time will tell.
made my day hearing that news…thank fudge common sense has prevailed…Lehmann is a fantastic choice…won’t win us the Ashes this time but definitely in with a shout in OZ in the summer…
