All the AFL rule changes will apply to the WAFL next year and beyond. Last possession out of bounds between the arcs is a free kick.
23 man squads meaning 5 interchange. An increase to the salary cap has been made to accommodate this. I love this. We lost 4 players in a game against Swans we still managed to win.
Ruckmen can’t cross the centre line at centre bounces. I like this one too.
No ruckman required at a ball up in general play and the centre bounce is no more.
Don’t like this one, a player within the 5 metre zone of a free kick or mark must stand. WTF? This just sounds bizarre. So we could have several players told to stand in a 5 metre radius? This will just confuse the fuck out of everyone including the umpires and I reckon will be the first one to be scrapped. They must have been on some recreational shit when they dreamt that one up.
Luke let it slip this morning, but I won’t say it until someone else does!
And yet there IS another thing for the WAFC to bring itself up to speed on -
Our Reporting and Tribunal/MRP System
From Now On, It MUST be Up Front,Prominent and NOT Secretive!
All Reportable offences MUST be Reported On The Spot 1st,then dealt with later!Any other post game report, publicise that As Soon as Possible!
All Cases MUST be Made available for Public View, particularly Sport FM’s regular Tribunal Correspondent and ALL Verdicts MUST be Published on the WAFL Website,NO LATER than Wednesday Lunchtime(allowing for Multiple Melee’s),following Each Round with an Explanation as per the Reported Players Not Guilty or Guilty Verdict and Why a Suspension was warranted or not!
The WAFC MUST Get this process SPOT ON from now on,especially at the Top Level to make it possible for Middle Management to administer Properly,Brook NO Interference from any Club/s ,that may subvert the process and Transparency in that Process!
You guys at the WAFC want to Follow the AFL in the Laws of the Game?
Question.
Does the new rules for ruckman now favour the leaper.
Will Jones, Eastland and Free still be as effective or will they come back to the pack?
You’re right about that, the best of the rules is that we now won’t have to wait for the ruckmen to get to around the ground ball ups or throw ins, will need to planned for in the teams gameplan
….and they’re shortening their Quarters,Not by reducing them to 15 plus extra time on,but letting the Clock run during Ball ups, saving 2-3 minutes per Quarter,….
The more athletic rucks will be advantaged with the new rules. The Centre bounce and also around the ground as the umpires have been instructed to throw the ball up quicker and shouldn’t be waiting for the two rucks to get to the ball up or reduced number of boundary throw ins.
Will probably see more key forwards and defenders getting involved in more ball ups with the lumbering ruckmans days numbered.
Can’t see Darcy being in Freos long term plans with the new rules favouring athletic players like Jackson.
If that is the case with Darcy, it would mean the end for many of the bigger lumbering rucks from other teams as well.
I know what you are saying, but not just effect Darcy.
But surely it is dead set common sense to follow the AFL with any rule changes like this.
I know some rusted on WAFL followers are spewing that their comp would follow the AFL rulings.
Was just using Darcy and Jackson as an example given they sit at opposite ends of the athletic spectrum.
I think all clubs will be looking at their ruck stocks and you’ll see less ogres on AFL lists moving forward.
The SANFLs played with the last touch rule for a decade.
