Yesterday about mid-afternoon in Adelaide, probably about 9 days ahead of our Fixture Release.
No great Drama in one sense if everyone in the Competition needs to dot our i’s and cross our t’s,but be open to a fixture switch,if needed to regarding the 2nd meeting between the eagles and dockers.
A couple of things of note,…they aren’t bothering to have a Round when the AFL Circus rolls into town,to breakout the marshmallows in gather round.
Instead, they will play a Home State Game against Victoria, that WEEKEND.
The Western Australia v South Australia State Game in Perth, will be held most likely on Saturday,May 16.
A General Bye for the Clubs will most likely follow.
B*gger!
After a reasonable start to the Seaon,my Westies fell 4 points short of knocking off a Power Club of the SANFL championship on the Road in Glenelg.
The Bloods have poor at League Level for some time,so I’m wondering about how the early signs are good and whether we can sustain it throughout the Season?!
Once upon a time,I could get that guage in Inside Football, with more than adequate coverage on how the improvement has occurred.
But I’ll have to scrounge around for it,outside a Supporters’ Group Facebook Page.
Keep an eye out for Adelaide Crows this year.
After a succession of Finals Series, but no Grand Finals or Flags and frequently complaining about the SANFL Clubs supposedly ganging up on them, they could very determined this year to roll through the Competition and Seriously Kick A*se!
There is a SANFL Segment on Sports Connection when Paul Persic talks to Chris Kendall on Tuesday Mornings, usually after 10AM.
Just when I think Westies were going to SLIDE BIG TIME after a promising start, they pulled off an Upset over the Reigning Premiers Sturt by 4 points.
Not only was it an Upset, but the 1st time they beat Sturt in 21 attempts, last beating the Double Blues in 2015,which was no surprise then, given we Won the Flag that year, for the 1st time in 32 years!
Another upset took place at Glenelg Oval, when the Runners Up from last Season in Glenelg, also Lost!In this case,it was South Adelaide Panthers who impressed with a solid 22 point Win!
Good to see The Bloods winning a few games…..nearly gave it away in the first kicking 1.7…then Sturt blew it in the last kicking 1.6…..well done Bloods….overdue some success….what is it with these teams wearing red n black mate…..provide heart ache and palpitations in every game they play
Ever see Gary McDonald in Struck by Lightning?
His character Ollie Rennie referred to the Bloods as Heartbreakers, possibly stemming out of their close losses to Port in the 50’s and possibly including ‘62 as well.
What made it worse was it was at the hands of former Westie,….
One Fos Williams!
