2025 season

heard luke english & fraser turner off to perth

Oh well let them go. They don’t want to be with us we can’t make them…

We should get some players in to replace them. Bill seems confident we still have a list good enough to be competitive. He’s looking to stay ling term.

rumour has it jack avery to play for sharks

Strongbow it was said a few weeks ago that Avery was heading east, to play in the VFL I assume which is something he flirted with 2 seasons ago. I believe Dodd is still working at your club, probably contracted until the end of September. He said when interviewed he wasn’t due to start at Perth until October.
An interesting dilemma if he’s speaking to a Perth player while still acting as your player manager before switching to the Demons.

Anyway welcome home Luke English and your buddy Fraser Turner. English will be a 1 point player. Did he fall out of favour this year or struggle with injuries?

dodo - you will find that he has no role with our club once he signed with your mob & is currently in holiday mode
I believe bill has begun talks with players & I reckon avery could be one them - lets see

as for english his form was fair up to rd 16 before getting injured & returned for week 1 of finals & had to settle playing in our ressies
fraser turner may have been on richmonds list when english was there so that could be the connection
good luck to them if the rumour is true & doddy

English, as strono highligted, had an ok season this year before getting injured…not as productive, scoreboard wise, as in previous seasons, though Hagan has stepped in and up as EF primary goalkicking small forward, with the likes of Montubaun, McGuire and Walker as the small zippy pressure forward sorts.

A move to Perth would probably enable English to be that number 1 small forward or even a new lease of life with some more midfield action. Premiership player, and a Perth product, so I wish the fells well if he does move on, as he has served EF well.

It is well documented, Turner and English are mates, so if English goes then I guess Turner may follow.. Good accumulator, link type player, had a fantastic 1st season with EF, not as productive this year, but he had plenty of company. Premiership player, played his role in ending the EF drought, if goes, then good luck to him.

Avery definitely would be seen as a replacement for Jupp up back. Though EF does have youngsters in Vladich, McManus and Austin in the reserves…all are around the 193 cm mark, but still raw development wise. So getting Avery for English and Turner, would make sense…but as highlighted by DD, the VFL may beckon Avery instead.

I can imagine Doddy will be linking up with Perth players and Stone sooner rather than later. Can see him bending a few ears of some EF players. All part n parcel of footy I guess, as EF have done well with English, Marlin and Leggett of late…

Turner and English for Avery?!!! I don’t think so- we’re getting dudded with that deal. Both Premiership players and both have finished high in Lynn Medal for a back that we have plenty of similar types- yes, Jupp is gone but there’s still Marlin, Bailey, Murphy, Cleaver, Vladich, Meade, McManus - not sure we’re taking that deal! Maybe for one of them

Yeah fair play KC, jumped the gun there…but Jupp us going to be a huge loss for EF, and no way Vladich, Austin and McManus will be stepping up filling those shoes from round 1 without some protection. . Marlin, Bailey and Murphy are reliable lieutenants…Avery is good to go at the WAFL level…is he worth Turner and English?..no definitely not…but a definite need for EF.

I can see Cleaver moving into the midfield more in 2025, Pauline is a prospect , already holding his own in the reserves, even he has another year of colts footy left. Eardley if stays on, will stay forward I reckon…along with Hagan, McGuire, Montubaun, Walker and Sanchez, not sure where English fits in…even though he is a premiership player.

seems turner is heading back home to tassie

bush leagues and ammo leagues will be licking their lips with the exodus of east freo players young and old

Yep can see Jupp, Boekhorst and Schoenfeld suiting up in different jumpers next year…and no doubt a fair few of the over age 2024 colts players moving on, after Bill and Gags rule lines through their names, for a senior spot in 2025…well spotted FF.

There does seem a few that are on the way out from the whispers I heard from someone on the board the other day - Jupp, Boekhorst, Schoenfeld, English and Turner confirmed with the likes of Burton, Aiken-Featherstone, Holmes, McDonald, Paholski weighing things up. Thats a fair chunk of the group with League experience and no doubt some youngsters will be targeted by other clubs.

Strnadica likely to return

N.Fremantle look to be likely suitors for a number of those names

McDonald being an ES boy, was always a chance to move on…been at the club for 3 years and if leaves, has league and reserves premiership medals for his efforts. Lost his spot this year when Boekhorst came back.

The other boys mentioned played roughly a combined total of 15 league games between them over the last 2 years. So good luck to them if they do move on to another club or to the Ammo’s/ country. I would be focusing on keeping the likes of reserves Premiership youngsters in Pauline, Austin, Vladich, Sanchez, Campbell and Dean at the club. All bar Vladich played colts this year, but ended up in that EF reserves premiership side at the end.

Definitely need a Jupp replacement, and would never say no to Strnadica returning, especially if Blakiston gets a reputed AFL nod. No doubt a few other speculative recruits in the pipeline…not sure who, but like most clubs right now, a lot of head hunting going on.

Agree Freezin - but Burton and Holmes have played close to 50 WAFL games and if called on aren’t bad replacements. Those young guys look promising but not sure they’ve gone past Jackson, Schoenfeld, Turner, Boekhorst and Jupp yet so recruits will be needed.

Lynn Medal on Friday - I’ll be going along - should be a fairly open field with no one really dominating - Murdock, Jupp, Jansen and Eardley to be around the mark at the pointy end. Bill is usually good for an announcement or 2 so should be a good night

Considering Murdock played all season, I think he will go in a strong favourite, with Baskerville and Eardley as company. Jupp missed 3 games due to concussion, and had a few 4+ fors kicked on him. Blakiston may go close as well, due to his stellar performances once Teaks went over East.

Hear what you are saying KC re Holmes and Burton, though I reckon Dunscombe and Zadow were in front of those 2, plus as the season went on McDonald and Schoey as well. Pauline and Sanchez are the two I am very hopeful.

Besides potential recruits, let’s hope more about a possible time line for where EF will be playing home games in 2025.

I see Sanchez has joined SF. Don’t like seeing those types walk out but must’ve been a reason

Behind Hagan and Monty I guess KC as that small forward, can’t see life getting any easier for him at SF though. Missed out on an AFL gig last year, spent this year playing reserves, so probably hoping a change of scenery will revive his career…

Avery finally comes on to EF playing list. Definitely a need after Jupp’s retirement, mobile sort who will does well in the intercepting role. Strnadica and Browne have been on EF playing list for a few weeks now. Nothing publicly confirmed, but 3 very additions if true

Jack Carroll delisted and hopefully finds a home somewhere. If not, would slot back nicely into the EF side. I see Avery on our list now but no announcement from the club (unless I’ve missed). Have we moved into the new facility yet or is that dragging on still??
