I presume this will be announced at the season launch this Saturday. Does anyone know who it is yet?
I would like to see Paul Bevan given the job. Personally, judging by his pre season form I reckon he is in for a good year.
However I see that Chance Bateman is the face of the membership campaign and Daniel O’Sulivan’s face appears on the membership card. These two could also be up there.
I have previously posted that IMO it will be Bevo or Chance but as a “smokey”, pardon the pun, it could be Sully.
No doubt those 3 will be part of the leadership group.
We will know on Saturday night.
Yer I know I couldn’t find it haha. Hopefully it’s Bevo. Young enough to be there for a 2-3 years, leads by example and has been a part of a Successful football team and culture in the Sydney Swans.
I attended the Corporate Classic function this evening and Chance Bateman was interviewed by the CEO and spoke to the gathering.
It would appear to me that this fine young man has already had an influence at the Club.
Chance also mentioned that once he had made the decision to come home, (he was offered a job over there), coming back to Perth was a “no brainer”. His words.
I have no doubt that we will see some great footy from Chance.
Chance Bateman brings a lot more to the table than Leon did last year.
He has returned to the club for ALL the right reasons and is leading from the front as you would expect from an AFL premiership player of 180 odd games.
I was there DF. The captain for 2013 is Paul Bevan. Gee it had a real good feel about the upcoming season. Vice captain is Sullivan. The launch had a completely different feel to last year. We cannot underestimate the contribution that chance Bateman will make at our club this year.
Yes, good appointments IMO. I heard that Chance may have been offered the captaincy but declined. From what I have seen so far at training and scratchies Chance is making a huge contribution on and off the field. So have Bevo and Sully.
From the photo on The West’s website it looks as though the football dept. has decided on Bevan as captain. This is a good choice, since I’ve heard good things about Bevan. It’s also good since it demonstrates Bevan’s commitment to the club and the current direction that the club is taking. I know Bevan had some trouble with other aspects of staying in Perth, so hopefully that’s been sorted out as well.
